Our third choice is to go to the heart of the trouble. And that means cleaning out major North Vietnamese and Vietcong occupied territories, these sanctuaries which serve as bases for attacks on both Cambodia and American and South Vietnamese forces in South Vietnam. Some of these, incidentally, are as close to Saigon as Baltimore is to Washington. This one, for example, is called the Parrot’s Beak. It’s only 33 miles from Saigon.
Now faced with these three options, this is the decision I have made. In co-operation with the armed forces of South Vietnam, attacks are being launched this week to clean out major enemy sanctuaries on the Cambodian-Vietnam border. A major responsibility for the ground operations is being assumed by South Vietnamese forces.
For example, the attacks in several areas, including the parrot’s beak that I referred to a moment ago, are exclusively South Vietnamese ground operations, under South Vietnamese command, with the United States providing air and logistical support. There is one area however, immediately above the parrot’s beak where I have concluded that a combined American and South Vietnamese operation is necessary.
Tonight, American and South Vietnamese units will attack the headquarters for the entire Communist military operation in South Vietnam. This key control center has been occupied by the North Vietnamese and Vietcong for five years in blatant violation of Cambodia’s neutrality.

We mourn seven heroes: Michael Smith, Dick Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe. We mourn their loas a nation together.
And I want to say something to the schoolchildren of who were watching the live coverage of the shuttle's take-off. I know it's hard to understand, but sometimes painful things like this happen. It's all part of the proceof exploration and discovery. It's all part of taking a chance and expanding man's horizons. The future doesn't belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future, and we'll continue to follow them.
We'll continue our quest in space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys continue.

大家晚上好！
很高興今晚年級(jí)上安排時(shí)間讓各學(xué)科老師利用11月月考反思的機(jī)會(huì)對(duì)本期以來(lái)同學(xué)們的英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)情況進(jìn)行一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的總結(jié)。我覺(jué)得這樣的機(jī)會(huì)非常寶貴，也非常必要！
因?yàn)樽詮倪M(jìn)入高中學(xué)習(xí)以來(lái)，同學(xué)們會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)高中英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)與初中有很大的區(qū)別，這不僅反應(yīng)在老師的教學(xué)方法及對(duì)同學(xué)們的要求上，而且大家可以體會(huì)到在難度方面較之初中也有很大的提高，再加之我們?cè)谟邢薜臅r(shí)間里要學(xué)習(xí)很多科目，使得很多同學(xué)感覺(jué)到在英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)上有一定的難度。通過(guò)幾次月考下來(lái)，有的同學(xué)甚至感覺(jué)到有些彌忙。因此，針對(duì)這一現(xiàn)狀，我想就以下幾點(diǎn)談?wù)剬W(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)值得主意的事項(xiàng)目。
1、英語(yǔ)課堂學(xué)習(xí)應(yīng)該注重課堂學(xué)習(xí)效果，課堂里的40分鐘非常寶貴且有限，要在這短短的時(shí)間內(nèi)掌握所有的英語(yǔ)知識(shí)肯定不易。因此，課堂中要認(rèn)真聽(tīng)講，及時(shí)消化，否則容易造成聽(tīng)課越聽(tīng)越不懂，形成惡性循環(huán)！這里我要特別提醒少數(shù)在課堂上表現(xiàn)不容樂(lè)觀的同學(xué)，他們課堂上看似認(rèn)真，卻是身在心不在，學(xué)習(xí)重在表象，完全不扎實(shí)，課堂上總是要在老師的督促與提醒下才能聽(tīng)課，這樣不僅僅影響了自己及周邊同學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)，同時(shí)也影響了老師的教學(xué)進(jìn)程，從而浪費(fèi)課堂學(xué)習(xí)時(shí)間，導(dǎo)致學(xué)習(xí)困難。要知道學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)重在平時(shí)的努力，學(xué)好英語(yǔ)和智商無(wú)關(guān)，學(xué)不好英語(yǔ)的人都是懶惰的人。那種想靠臨時(shí)突擊，臨時(shí)抱佛腳的做法不可取也不可行。
2、英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)貴在堅(jiān)持！就好像跑步運(yùn)動(dòng)，英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)之初大家都從同一個(gè)起跑線出發(fā)，但隨著難度加深與詞匯量加大，一些同學(xué)慢慢對(duì)英語(yǔ)失去新鮮感續(xù)而厭煩最后掉隊(duì)。希望大家都能奮發(fā)圖強(qiáng)，高中生活也才過(guò)去六分之一，因此還存較大提高的余地！對(duì)于英語(yǔ)偏科的同學(xué)，雖然是歷史原因造成的，但并不是不可根治的，想要證明自己真正有實(shí)力那就從偏科的英語(yǔ)入手，重點(diǎn)突破！所以，現(xiàn)在欠下了學(xué)習(xí)債的同學(xué)們?cè)谡n后一定要主動(dòng)抽時(shí)間為自己補(bǔ)習(xí)英語(yǔ)。
3、學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣是第一生產(chǎn)力。許多同學(xué)英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)好，并不是他（她）比別人聰明，而是學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣比較好。良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣可以大大提高你的學(xué)習(xí)效果，我們年級(jí)有很多這樣的同學(xué)，比如：黃健，張葉，練詩(shī)林，孫震，鄒佳玲，彭圣文，姜艷秋，黃靜文，官慧婕，唐建柯等同學(xué)，她們學(xué)習(xí)態(tài)度端正，上課認(rèn)真，書(shū)寫工整，正因?yàn)槿绱�，無(wú)論什么考試都能取得很好的成績(jī)，這與她們平時(shí)良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣是分不開(kāi)的！因此，良好的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣是成功學(xué)習(xí)的保障。在此，我向大家提出幾點(diǎn)建議，希望大家能堅(jiān)持做好。
首先，樹(shù)立必勝的學(xué)習(xí)“自信心”。人的自信心是一種心理品質(zhì)，是情感因素之一，它對(duì)我們的學(xué)習(xí)起著重要作用。對(duì)于一個(gè)有自信的人，他會(huì)勇于面對(duì)挑戰(zhàn)，努力向自己定下的目標(biāo)進(jìn)發(fā)，追求自我實(shí)現(xiàn)，不僅可以帶來(lái)個(gè)人的成功感，在其他方面也能得到全面的發(fā)展，使自己更受人歡迎；相反，對(duì)一個(gè)沒(méi)有自信的人，他會(huì)逃避挑戰(zhàn)，不敢面對(duì)失敗的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)，懷疑自己的能力，使自己失去很多成功的機(jī)會(huì)。因此，希望大家能夠正確地分析自己的處境、建立適度的期望值，正確而理性地對(duì)待分?jǐn)?shù)，有句話說(shuō)的好：永遠(yuǎn)不要否定自己，因?yàn)闆](méi)有人已百分百地認(rèn)識(shí)自己，人的潛能是無(wú)窮的。你自己也一樣。給自己一個(gè)目標(biāo)，自己跟自己比，只要今天的自己比昨天的自己有進(jìn)步，就說(shuō)明你是成功的。要知道，學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)是一項(xiàng)艱苦的勞動(dòng)，沒(méi)有頑強(qiáng)的意志，堅(jiān)持不懈的毅力是不能成功的。所以英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)中要克服畏難心理，鍛煉學(xué)生堅(jiān)強(qiáng)的意志。同時(shí)，在學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中，不斷地給自己積極的心理的暗示：如“我能趕上”，“我會(huì)獲得成功的�！�
