史書記載，第一個(gè)來到這里的外地人是位商人，他想販些銀器回國(guó)，結(jié)果被一個(gè)帶路的小孩騙走了腳上正穿著的一雙皮靴。還有一個(gè)來自大馬士革城的旅行者，他想到帝王谷去探寶，然而進(jìn)城不到一刻鐘，就被一個(gè)吉卜賽人連錢帶行李騙了個(gè)精光。據(jù)傳，印度一位道行最高的巫師漫游至此，也沒逃過被騙的厄運(yùn)，身上唯一的一件東西——銅蛇管，被一個(gè)啞巴騙走了。
