The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. We are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. I believe in our future.

Whatever one does, one should do it with confidence. However, in reality we do see a lot of people who complain that they like the ability to do something or that their difficulties are too great to be overcome. For someone, this might be true. But for many others, this only shows that they have lost heart.
Why do people often feel frustrated even though they are capable of doing something? There are, among others, two main reasons. First, these people do have a correct estimate of themselves. Second, they overestimate the difficulties.
It is possible to build up faith in oneself by having the right attitude towards one’s abilities. We should never underestimate one’s abilities. But believe in the proverb: “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Confidence is the promise for fulfilling a task successfully.

We often hear people say, “Never give up.” These can be encouraging words and words of determination. One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted. In short, it is important that we do not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better, more confident people. Good afternoon everybody! It's my honor to speak here and I am very glad to share my topic with all of you. Today I'd like to talk about “my dream”. I do not just have one dream, in fact, I have three. They are: a healthy life, a happy family and to travel my great country.
I have always admired the long healthy life my grandparents have. They are older than 80 years of age and they are still alive and kicking! How do they do that!? My grandparents plant vegetables and grow rice themselves; even in their old age they still make food for themselves! I guess that is why they can remain healthy. More importantly they remain humble and never ask for too much from life. Perhaps that makes them common, but they live a happy life. My grandmother once told me this:” I do not want to live long, only long enough for some grand children to be running around in my house”. I want to live a long, healthy and happy life just as they have.
Since my graduation from primary school, until now, every time on my birthday I make the same wish. I wish my parents will not fight anymore. I am not complaining that they gave me a bad childhood, they just fight so much! I am unhappy but that does not mean they do not love me. They do! They love me with all their heart. I love my parents also; I want them to live a happy life as well.
I want to travel this great country of ours. I want to see the beauty of our country. I want to see the miracles that made this country great! I want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! I have a dream, that one day I can travel and see my country with my family and friends! If that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also.
If I can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then God can take me away. I would be happy, and l would have lived a full and prosperous life.

The process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. Take myself as an example, I changed my major when I became a postgraduate. After the choice,days have been harsh for me.I cannot understand the new lessons at all. For they are closely related to mathmatics which I learned nothing about before. However wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,I persisted. I asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. Gradually I could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.Moreover, I learned to act instead of complaining. Thirdly, the balance between study and work. Most of us will choose to take a part time job to earn the extra money or just to exercise ourselves. But it is significant to keep a relatively balanced relationship between them since I always regard the study as our main task, so my principle is adjusting work to follow the schedule of study.

my hometown is lhasa, the largest city on the roof of the world. it is the heart and soul of tibet. i think lhasa is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. it is surrounded by towering mountains and rarely a day goes by when you don' t see the deep blue sky. lhasa river is flowing quietly around the city.
lhasa is the mixture of tradition and fashion.
firstly, lhasa has a long history. it is the political, cultural and economic center of tibet. it has lots of famous sights to offer. the potala palace is the most famous, a magnificent and wonderful place to look at. in my opinion it is a unique artistic achievement of the tibetan people. likewise, the architecture, carvings and paintings throughout the city show hard work, wisdom and bravery of our people.
secondly, led by the reforming and opening policy of china, lhasa has changed a lot. many new things have arrived up here, changing the face of the city. the old and new lie side by side in lhasa.
many new buildings, schools and roads have been built here. furthermore, the qing-zang railway leading to lhasa is being built. many shopping centers have been opened, and modern technology like telecommunications is spreading. the whole city looks prosperous, and our tibetan people take on a new look. every festival, people walk around freely on the new, wide and smooth streets, wearing the beautiful traditional costumes.
right now, i am looking forward to a festival called shodün which comes in june for eating yoghurt. at this time, all my family and i gather for a picnic together at the norbulinka, a famous garden. in the garden, we sing tibetan songs, dance “guo zhuang” on the grass; eat zanba, drink butter tea and barley beer on the beautiful carpet as well. we enjoy our life. i think that this festival exhibits the open-minded and optimistic character of the tibetan people.

我的家鄉(xiāng)是拉薩，它位于世界屋脊。我認(rèn)為拉薩是世界上最美麗的城市之一，它的周圍是高聳入云的山脈，幾乎你天天都能看到湛藍(lán)的天空，拉薩河圍繞著這座城市緩緩地流淌著。
拉薩是一個(gè)傳統(tǒng)和時(shí)尚的結(jié)合體。
首先，拉薩有悠久的歷史，燦爛的文化。拉薩是西藏的政治、文化、經(jīng)濟(jì)中心，并且有許多聞名遐邇的名勝古跡，布達(dá)拉宮雄偉壯觀，金碧輝煌，是一個(gè)值得一看的地方，我認(rèn)為它是西藏人民獨(dú)特藝術(shù)成就，而且拉薩市的建筑、雕刻和繪畫(huà)是西藏人民勤勞、勇敢和智慧的結(jié)晶。
其次，自改革開(kāi)放以來(lái)，拉薩發(fā)生了很大變化，許多新事物層出不窮，改變了拉薩的面貌，古老與現(xiàn)代并存。
多種風(fēng)格的建筑拔地而起，現(xiàn)代化的學(xué)校被建起，寬暢的公路被修建，通向拉薩的青藏鐵路正在施工，現(xiàn)代高科技在拉薩延伸，整個(gè)城市呈現(xiàn)一派繁榮景象，拉薩人民呈現(xiàn)新的面貌，每逢節(jié)日，他們穿著節(jié)日盛裝，自在地走在大街上。
現(xiàn)在我正期待著雪頓節(jié)的到來(lái)，這個(gè)節(jié)日在六月初，是一個(gè)吃酸奶的節(jié)日，當(dāng)這個(gè)節(jié)日到來(lái)的時(shí)候，我和我的家人、朋友聚在一起在有名的公園-“羅布林卡” 里面野餐。我們?cè)诓莸厣弦黄鸪馗瑁伹f舞;踏著美麗的藏式地毯吃糌粑、喝酥油茶和青稞酒，享受我們幸福的生活，我認(rèn)為這個(gè)節(jié)日展示了西藏人民開(kāi)朗、樂(lè)觀的性格。
