“ We are made wise not by the recollections of the past but by our responsibility for the future”
----George Bernard Shaw
China is faced with some enormous challenges as it enters the 21st century. In order to ensure the prosperity of our nation and its future generations we must confront and ultimately solve these challenges.
Some of the more pressing issues facing China are universal. These include environmental degradation, over population andthe effects of globalization.
To overcome some of the things we need to implement include:
Enhancing our scientific and industrial technologies in such areas as IT, Bio- tech, AI and Cybernetics.
Further develop public infrastructure in under developed regions.
Promote education reform at all levels.
Introduce sustainable development initiatives.
The implementation of free trade agreement between China and ASEAN.
The benefit to China in introducing these initiatives will be significant and far-reaching. It is important to realize that these initiatives need to filter down through all elements of the society in China. For instance, cutting edge technologies and intellectual properties; the development of e-commerce based economy; an education system that encourages innovation and creativity; increased foreign investment; higher living standards; more efficient use of natural resources.
It is important for us to realize these reforms are both essential and necessary. These will help China to fulfill its vast and unrealized potential on the world stage. It will also contribute more to a globalized world of the new century.
As for the future our task is not to foresee but to enable.

Time flies! Our freshmen have spent two months in our beautiful campus of university. Every new beginning is a new challenge. We can't expect anything to be the same as our imagine.Different envirenment is a new battle. We are always curious with the things around.Though we come from different placeswe have our own dream our own ambition our own challenge. But the mankind is sometimes so fragile that it can't withstand outside lure.
Many students are the first time to be so far away form home. They come to a foreign city a foreign campus facing so many foreign but friendly faces.Plenty of activities bring us fresh air and pleasant fleeing.Be busy with study and work enriches our lifehelping preventing our homesick.
Life in campus is different with that in elementary school and middle school. We have much spare time dominated by our own.Our campus is just like another home.People from all corners of our country come together to form a big family. There are tears as well as laughters. We have troubles but we are also learning to conquer them.We become more and more brave and more and more stronger. We are no longer the little baby that will never grow up in our parents eyes.We are growing up day by day.
I love the life in our university. We have a new starting point a new origin and a period of a brand new life. Our freshmen life is continuing. Please wait and see our brilliant achievement!

As food is to the body, so is learning to the mind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with the intake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise, we should keep learning day by day to maintain our keen mental power and expand our intellectual capacity. Constant learning supplies us with inexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, and judgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in the information age, and an infallible warrant of success in times of uncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the only workshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a never-ending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world ever changing so fast, the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What's worse, the animalistic instinct dormant deep in our subconsciousness will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our noble ideal, sapping our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and strangling our desire for the refinement of our character. Lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization, Therefore, to stay mentally young, we have to take learning as a lifelong career.

"If you don't want to wake up and find you have no pants to wear, you'd better put themon in sleep," goes a popular joke among students. Obviously, campus thefts have becomeincreasingly annoying as they occur far more often than before. And it seems that the thievesare less choosy these days, with their targets ranging widely from bikes, cell phones, purses,pre-paid IC cards to sunglasses, bags, and even underwear. In short, anything that worth adime is likely to be stolen.
What makes students the easy targets? The reasons are not hard to find. But I believe ofall these reasons, the lack of anti-theft alertness is the most important. For lack of alertness, the students tend to leave the doors and windows wide open during sleep at noon or at nightin summer. For the same reason, they'll also leave their bikes unlocked before a store or by aroad, or forget to take away their personal stuff before they go out of the classroom to make aphone call. These acts undoubtedly have increased their exposure to the light-fingeredmonsters.
In order to minimize possible losses, the students must stay on guard in the first place, asawareness of the thefts around often makes a big difference. To be more specific, thestudents should not hide any tempting amount of cash in the dorm. Put it in the bank instead.Besides, do not leave any valuable items unattended. Take them wherever you go. Inaddition, it's advisable to develop a neighbourhood watch programme with other students inthe dorm and neighbouring dorms.

Never Put off until Tomorrow What You Can DoToday
We have been told that never put off until tomorrowwhat you can do today since childhood. However, there are still many people who like putting off thethings that should do today until tomorrow.Theyhave no plans for their work and their time. As aresult, they will not accomplish their goals in theend. For example, one Sunday I felt so tired after having a football match that I did not finishmy homework even at night. I thought I could get up earlier to go to school the next morningso that I could finish my homework before class. But the next morning I was not able to get toschool in time because of the traffic jam. I was punished by the teacher. It taught me a lesson. From then on I made a determination that I would never put off anything important until thenext day. Please remember: Work today, for you don’t know how much you may be hinderedtomorrow. Seize the present day, cherish every minute you have now and trust the tomorrowas little as possible.

DENVER — Parents and survivors of the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School are saying good things about an essay released Tuesday by the mother of shooter Dylan Klebold.
Susan Klebold made the most detailed public remarks by any parent of the two Columbine killers in an essay published in O, The Oprah Magazine. She said in the essay she had “no inkling” her son was suicidal or depressed.
The essay sparked strong emotions for Connie Michalik, whose son, Richard Castaldo, was shot and partially paralyzed in the rampage. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 12 students and a teacher and wounded 23 others before killing themselves.
The shooters’ parents have said little in public since the massacre. They gave depositions in a lawsuit filed by victims’ families, but a judge in 20xx ordered those depositions sealed for 20 years after the case was settled out of court.
Survivors and their families have been left wondering about the boys’ parents in the decade since the shootings.
“You know, I always wondered how she felt and what she went through. ‘Cause I know I went through a living hell, and I was always sure she did, too,” Michalik told The Associated Press.
Michalik, who has never met Susan Klebold, said reading the essay answered some of her questions about the Klebold family.
“I applaud her for the courage to talk about this,” Michalik said Tuesday.
In the essay, Susan Klebold described the day of the shooting. She at first feared Dylan had been shot at school, not that he was one of the perpetrators.
Susan Klebold said the family was evacuated from their home the afternoon of the massacre because authorities feared even Dylan’s residence may have been rigged to explode. Still, she said, it took months for relatives to accept that the quiet boy who loved origami and Legos was to blame for the violence.
“We didn’t know that he and Eric had assembled an arsenal of explosives and guns,” Susan Klebold wrote. “We believed his participation in the massacre was accidental or that he had been coerced. We believed that he did not intend to hurt anyone.”
The magazine released excerpts from the essay last week and published the full text Tuesday.
A magazine spokeswoman said Susan Klebold has turned down several interview requests over the years but agreed several months ago to share an essay. There were no plans for her to appear on the show.
In an introduction to the essay, Oprah Winfrey told readers, “Since the day her son participated in the most devastating high school shooting America has ever seen, I have wanted to sit down with Susan Klebold to ask her the questions we’ve all wanted to ask — starting with, ‘How did you not see it coming?’ and ending with ‘How did you survive?’”
A spokeswoman for Susan Klebold has said there would be no further comment.
One of the shooting’s survivors, Krystal Miller, said Tuesday she has long had questions for the Klebolds but understood their silence.
“Over the years I would’ve loved to hear something,” said Miller, whose maiden name was Krystal Woodman. “But it sounds like she is still just reeling from it and processing it. So how is someone supposed to come out and give answers when they’re still trying to figure it out themselves?”

good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
it would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the negro. this sweltering summer of the negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.
those who hope that the negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. there will be neither rest nor tranquility in america until the negro is granted his citizenship rights. the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
but there is something that i must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. in the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.
we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. we must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
the marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
we cannot walk alone.and as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. we cannot turn back. there are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "when will you be satisfied?" we can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. we cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. we can never be satisfied as long as a negro in mississippi cannot vote and a negro in new york believes he has nothing for which to vote. no, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

Safety is very important. We often hear people say “safety first”. As a middle school student, we should learn to protect ourselves from every possible danger. Here are some things I do. I hope you can follow them.On your way to school and home. You should obey the traffic rules. You should walk on the right side of the road. Don't ride your bike too fast.During school, you can't fight with each other. Don't play with fire. Don't bring knife to school. Don't go out of school without your teacher's permission. In public places or campus, enough water plugs, extinguishing agents and emergency outlets should be set and prepared for unforeseen circumstances.Above all,a series of precautions must be taken to guarantee the students' safety. Let's make the campus safe through our long-term unremitting efforts.
Dear teachers and students,
hello everyone! Today, the topic of my speech is "cherish life, safe life".
I know that most of the students will sing songs such as "peace to you" and "peace to a good man's life" to pray for success and peace; I believe that students understand the thinking of life contained in the words of "peace is blessing", "peace is gold"; I am sure that all the students have expressed good wishes to their parents, relatives, classmates and friends with auspicious words such as "peace, health, happiness and smooth". Yes, safety is more important than Mount Tai. It has always been the most basic lifeline for individuals, families, collectives and society. It is also the most important guarantee line for individuals to enjoy life and collectives to maintain stability.
At present, there are many casualties caused by ideological, psychological and behavioral deviations among primary and secondary school students, which expose the common safety risks of current students in ideology, psychology and behavior. One by one shocking, blood and tears intertwined tragedy can not help but make people sigh, fear, but also sounded the alarm for our safety.
"Life", what a vivid word“ "Safety" is such an old topic“ Happiness is such a wonderful state. Students: one person is safe, the whole family is happy; Life is supreme and safety is the key; Safety first, prevention first. Only in safety can life keep its vitality forever, and only in safety can happiness have its charm forever. Safety has built our beautiful home and become a link between relatives and friends. On the issue of safety, we must not be paralyzed or lucky. On the issue of safety, we must guard against and be alert. We must be alert to thinking, comply with the rules and be cautious in action; It is necessary to establish a high sense of safety. Everyone stresses safety, always and everything; It is necessary to build a great wall of safety for thought, behavior and life.
Perhaps many students will think that safety only refers to the safety of the body, even the physical health and not hurt; I think as long as my body is healthy and can move freely, it is called safety. I don't think that's all about security. Even a man with a sound physique, if his moral level is low, his ability to distinguish right from wrong is not strong, and if he is confused, he has the suspicion of forming a clique and drinking; If he shows his loyalty and causes trouble, he not only likes to go with the flow, but also wants to make trouble; What this shows is the problem of ideological security. Just as in the previous week, there were several fights between classmates, as well as events on the court. Basketball game should be a game of friendship and style, but there are so many students fighting for the win and lose, which makes the relationship between students tense. It's not hard to imagine that it's very difficult to be a good person all one's life with such unsafe thoughts. In addition, if a person with a sound physique indulges in the spiritual opium of bad books and online games, and sucks every day and everywhere, he can't help but wander and think about it in class; Late at night can not help but to cross the wall bubble Internet cafes stay up all night; If he is infatuated with the sentimental feelings of young boys and girls prematurely, he will search for sorrow and hatred without any reason, be crazy and stupid, be crazy and crazy, and even be jealous and resentful, and become a beauty. This shows the safety problem of behavior. With such unsafe behavior, it is also very difficult to read a good book steadily and smoothly.
Whether it is personal safety, ideological safety or behavioral safety, they all have one common characteristic, that is, the cruelty of the result. Traffic accidents, swimming and drowning accidents, sports accidents, and occasional accidents of chasing and fighting during recess. The light ones can hurt the physique, and the heavy ones can endanger the life. Their consequences are cruel. However, the deformity of ideology and morality and the deviance of behavior are more terrible than the unsound physique.
Zang Kejia wrote in the poem some people: "some people live, but they have died." I think that those who lose their healthy spiritual pursuit, lose their right direction of life, and have a living body are the products of incomplete thinking? At best, this "product" can only be a machine that endlessly absorbs and digests the blood and sweat of parents. It can only become a waste in the long river of social development, and even a dangerous substance endangering social development.
Dear teachers and students, we all live in a close relationship interwoven by family affection, morality, responsibility, obligation and so on. So the individual is not just the individual. Everyone's present is connected with the future, everyone's own is connected with the family, and everyone's honor and disgrace are connected with the whole. For the growth of individuals, for the happiness of families, for the whole of honor and disgrace, let's build a great wall of safety for our thoughts, behaviors and lives, and be good people. Only good people can live a safe life; I wish a good man a safe life.

In China, almost every family has TV set in their house. Television has made great contribution to people’s daily lives and children’s education. Some people even think that television is one of the greatest inventions in the world.
But there is a good side and a bad side to everything and that includes the television.
On one hand, TV is a powerful educational tool that through it people know what is happening in the rest of the world. Because of television, people begin to understand different cultures and current affairs.
They know about the things they never knew before, they create their own opinions and form their sense of worth. The TV opens a brand-new door for them to explore the things they want to know. Many people may go traveling due to watch the beautiful scenes in TV.
On the other hand, some people may find them addicted to television, especially the young people.
They spend most of their free time watching TV programs instead of playing outside with their peers.
In this case, the children may lack of the ability of communicate effectively with others.
TV makes them isolated. What’ more, sometimes the TV programs may contain se-xual scenes or bloody scenes that not suitable for children to watch.
This will cause negative effects on them.
To sum up, I think television has both advantages and disadvantages, people should find a balance between it. Make the most use of it, don’t be the salves of it.

The large group now has invaded the square at night, when the night comes, several groups of Da Ma go to the square, playing the music and dance until 9 o’clock. About few years ago, only few women would do this, but now, as the economy develops, people live a better life, so they begin to find entertainment. Da Ma have made the square dance popular, when we go out at night, we may find them dance everywhere. I think square dance is a good way for people to get exercise, they can keep fit.

In the summer recess between freshman and sophomore years in college, I wasinvited to be an instructor at a high school leadership camp hosted by a collegein Michigan. I was already highly involved in most campus activities, and Ijumped at the opportunity.
About an hour into the first day of camp, amid the frenzy of icebreakersand forced interactions, I first noticed the boy under the tree. He was smalland skinny, and his obvious discomfort and shyness made him appear frail andfragile. Only 50 feet away, 200 eager campers were bumping bodies, playing, joking and meeting each other, but the boy under the tree seemed to want to beanywhere other than where he was. The desperate loneliness he radiated almoststopped me from approaching him, but I remembered the instructions from thesenior staff to stay alert for campers who might feel left out.
As I walked toward him I said, “Hi, my name is Kevin and I’m one of thecounselors. It’s nice to meet you. How are you?”
In a shaky, sheepish voice he reluctantly answered, “Okay, I guess.”
I calmly asked him if he wanted to join the activities and meet some newpeople. He quietly replied, “No, this is not really my thing.”
I could sense that he was in a new world, that this whole experience wasforeign to him. But I somehow knew it wouldn’t be right to push him, either. Hedidn’t need a pep talk, he needed a friend. After several silent moments, myfirst interaction with the boy under the tree was over.
At lunch the next day, I found myself leading camp songs at the top of mylungs for 200 of my new friends. The campers were eagerly participated. My gazewandered over the mass of noise and movement and was caught by the image of theboy from under the tree, sitting alone, staring out the window. I nearly forgotthe words to the song I was supposed to be leading. At my first opportunity, Itried again, with the same questions as before: “How are you doing? Are youokay?”
To which he again replied, “Yeah, I’m all right. I just don’t really getinto this stuff. ”
As I left the cafeteria, I too realized this was going to take more timeand effort than I had thought — if it was even possible to get through to him atall.
That evening at our nightly staff meeting, I made my concerns about himknown. I explained to my fellow staff members my impression of him and askedthem to pay special attention and spend time with him when they could.
The days I spend at camp each year fly by faster than any others I haveknown. Thus, before I knew it, mid-week had dissolved into the final night ofcamp and I was chaperoning the “l(fā)ast dance”. The students were doing all theycould to savor every last moment with their new “best friends” — friends theywould probably never see again.
As I watched the campers share their parting moments, I suddenly saw whatwould be one of the most vivid memories of my life. The boy from under the tree, who stared blankly out the kitchen window, was now a shirtless dancing wonder. He owned the dance floor as he and two girls proceeded to cut up a rug. Iwatched as he shared meaningful, intimate time with people at whom he couldn’teven look just days earlier. I couldn’t believe it was him. In October of mysophomore year, a late-night phone call pulled me away from my chemistry book. Asoft-spoken, unfamiliar voice asked politely, “Is Kevin there?”
“You’re talking to him. Who’s this?”
“This is Tom Johnson’s mom. Do you remember Tommy from leadership camp?”
The boy under the tree. How could I not remember? “Yes, I do”, I said.“He’s a very nice young man. How is he?”
An abnormally long pause followed, then Mrs. Johnson said, “My Tommy waswalking home from school this week when he was hit by a car and killed.”Shocked, I offered my condolences.
“I just wanted to call you”, she said, “because Tommy mentioned you so manytimes. I wanted you to know that he went back to school this fall withconfidence. He made new friends. His grades went up. And he even went out on afew dates. I just wanted to thank you for making a difference for Tom. The lastfew months were the best few months of his life.”
In that instant, I realized how easy it is to give a bit of yourself everyday. You may never know how much each gesture may mean to someone else. I tellthis story as often as I can, and when I do, I urge others to look out for theirown “boy under the tree.”

One possible version:
Boys and girls:
We high school students do have some growing pains, but we can get rid of them correctly and wisely. First of all, some of us are upset about their figures and looks. Personally, I argue that it is one's inner beauty that really matters. That is why we needn't care about it.
Second, when we are misunderstood by our teachers, parents or even classmates, we can find a proper time to have a heart-to-heart talk with them, as communication is the best way to remove misunderstandings. Some of us complain they have few true friends. Being open-minded and ready to help others will surely gain popularity among peers.
Third, we may fall behind others, which makes us stressed. Determined to work efficiently, we can overcome any difficulty. If necessary, we may turn to the teachers for help.
Last, some of us don't have much pocket money, so they feel unhappy. Isn't it strange? So long as we have some, that's enough. We high school students should learn to save, as saving is a good virtue of the Chinese, shouldn’t we?
That's all. Thank you.

It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Gamblers at Monte Carlo are pursuing money, and most of them lose it instead, but there are other ways of pursuing money which often succeed. So it is with happiness. If you pursue it by means of drink, you are forgetting the hang-over. Epicurus pursued it by living only in congenial society and eating only dry bread, supplemented by a little cheese on feast days. His method proved successful in his case, but he was a valetudinarian, and most people would need something more vigorous. For most people, the pursuit of happiness, unless supplemented in various ways, is too abstract and theoretical to be adequate as a personal rule of life. But I think that whatever personal rule of life you may choose it should not, except in rare and heroic cases, be incompatible with happiness.
There are a great many people who have all the material conditions of happiness, i.e. health and a sufficient income, and who, nevertheless, are profoundly unhappy. In such cases it would seem as if the fault must lie with a wrong theory as to how to live. In one sense, we may say that any theory as to how to live is wrong. We imagine ourselves more different from the animals than we are. Animals live on impulse, and are happy as long as external conditions are favorable. If you have a cat it will enjoy life if it has food and warmth and opportunities for an occasional night on the tiles. Your needs are more complex than those of your cat, but they still have their basis in instinct. In civilized societies, especially in English-speaking societies, this is too apt to be forgotten. People propose to themselves some one paramount objective, and restrain all impulses that do not minister to it. A businessman may be so anxious to grow rich that to this end he sacrifices health and private affections. When at last he has become rich, no pleasure remains to him except harrying other people by exhortations to imitate his noble example. Many rich ladies, although nature has not endowed them with any spontaneous pleasure in literature or art, decide to be thought cultured, and spend boring hours learning the right thing to say about fashionable new books that are written to give delight, not to afford opportunities for dusty snobbism.
If you look around at the men and women whom you can call happy, you will see that they all have certain things in common. The most important of these things is an activity which at most gradually builds up something that you are glad to see coming into existence. Women who take an instinctive pleasure in their children can get this kind of satisfaction out of bringing up a family. Artists and authors and men of science get happiness in this way if their own work seems good to them. But there are many humbler forms of the same kind of pleasure. Many men who spend their working life in the city devote their weekends to voluntary and unremunerated toil in their gardens, and when the spring comes, they experience all the joys of having created beauty.
The whole subject of happiness has, in my opinion, been treated too solemnly. It had been thought that man cannot be happy without a theory of life or a religion. Perhaps those who have been rendered unhappy by a bad theory may need a better theory to help them to recovery, just as you may need a tonic when you have been ill. But when things are normal a man should be healthy without a tonic and happy without a theory. It is the simple things that really matter. If a man delights in his wife and children, has success in work, and finds pleasure in the alternation of day and night, spring and autumn, he will be happy whatever his philosophy may be. If, on the other hand, he finds his wife fateful, his childrens noise unendurable, and the office a nightmare; if in the daytime he longs for night, and at night sighs for the light of day, then what he needs is not a new philosophy but a new regimen----a different diet, or more exercise, or what not.
Man is an animal, and his happiness depends on his physiology more than he likes to think. This is a humble conclusion, but I cannot make myself disbelieve it. Unhappy businessmen, I am convinced, would increase their happiness more by walking six miles every day than by any conceivable change of philosophy.
every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. my friends will listen to me when i want to speak, will wipe my eyes when i cry, will take care of me when i am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.
as students, we could share more time with our friends. the friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. i often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. especially when i had justin as one of my best friends. justin was my english teacher from the usa. i met him in 1996 when i was a student who could only speak very little english. justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive. he taught us english by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. i could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on christmas eve. it was so interesting and unforgettable. justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study english well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. i know there was friendship and pure love in our hearts. facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. justin is the best friend i have ever had, and i know i will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.
friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. it is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it is also like a cup of tea. when we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.
however, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. more and more people forget to enjoy the beauty of life and -the beauty of friendship. they work hard in order to gain a higher position, in the society and to earn more money for their work. of course, we don't deny that it is important to find a bet-ter place in our lives, but we wish more and more people could pay a little more attention to themselves and their friends. all of us have to spare some time for personal lives. we have to find the chance to express our emotion and love. when staying with our friends, we can release ourselves completely. we can do whatever we want, we can laugh together, talk together, and even cry to-gether. i should say that being together with our best friends is the most wonderful moment of our lives.
as we know, we would feel lonely if we didn't even have a friend. but it doesn't mean we could depend on our friends all the time. there is a famous motto saying that “a friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.” it is really true. we have to work hard together with our friends, encourage each other and help each other. when we receive love and friendship, we should repay as much as we can.
finally, let's pray together now that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. let's pray the flower of friendship be-tween our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts.

thanks for your attention.
a common concept among some people is that opportunities are few. they always complain that opportunities never occur to them. they only admire those people who make a hit or succeed by seizing some opportunities, and always wonder why they are never given a good opportunity to show their talent.
another common notion is that there are opportunities everywhere. opportunity may occur to anybody at any time and under any circumstances as long as he/she keeps ma-ki-ng constant efforts. as a student, you can get to the top through your hard work. as a businessman, you can succeed through accurate calculation and with a complete certainty that you can make a profit.
in my opinion, opportunity favors only those who keep trying and who are ready for it. as the saying goes "god helps those who help themselves", so no matter whether there's opportunity or not, what we should do is to study, to learn and become learned people, only in this way can you seize your opportunity when it occurs. so never say there's no opportunity again, opportunities are around us.
Every child is surrounded by the deep mother love. However, we often turn a blind eye to the love. One day I deeply felt the love.
One day I hurried home for lunch after school, because there would be an exam in the afternoon and I had expected to go back to school early to prepare for the exam. But when I got home, the lunch was not ready yet. I felt unhappy. When the dishes were served, I found none I like. I ran out of my house angrily and wandered on the street for a while, hungry. Then I walked to school. When I got into the classroom, I saw a lunch box on my desk. One classmate told me that it was my mother there that had brought it here. After opening the box, I found my favorite food inside. My eyes was moist with tears.
Mother gave me her love without asking for return, How deep mother love is!

My dear friends,
Should smoking be banned?
Different people have different opinions. Somesmokers think smoking is a kind of enjoyment, andthey could live without food but will die withoutsmoking. Also they said they have freedom ofsmoking and it has nothingto do with others. However a lot of non-smokers don't agree. In theiropinion, smoking is harmful to not onlysmokersthemselves but also public health especially thewoman and children. Therefore, many coutries have worked out lots to forbid smoking in publicplaces, such as cinemas, hospitals, stations etc. Nowadays, smokersmake up one quarter of theworld's population. If the problem of smoking is not dealt with seriously, human health will bein danger. So smoking should be banned in no time.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.
After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."

As we all know, smoking is not only bad for our health, but also bad for our society.therefore, our govrenment has publish an ban about forbid people smoke at the public place form 20xx.1.1,including the indoor pulic placces, indoor public workplaces and pulic transport means.this ban will first come into power in the medical system.
In order to make this ban come into power,we should do what we can to reduce the behavior of smoke around us.we can put up some posteres at public places to aware people this is no-somking place.Perhaps the most important ,and most easyist thing that we can do is we won't be a smoker.
It has a long and hard way to forbid somke, but I believe that if everyone follw this ban and take a googd care of their behavior,we will have a clear sky soon.
