大學(xué)生即興英語(yǔ)演講稿 篇1
Sino-Japan problem is always a sensitive topic, a fuse which can trigger a serial of explosion. Some so-called patriots argue that buying domestic products is patriotism and proclaim that in particular all the Chinese should reject goods marked “made in Japan”.
Those who are more extreme may smash or plunder a shop which sells Japan products or burn any Japanese car in the street no matter who owns it.
Then, how about launch a war against Japan so that we can destroy that malicious disgusting nation which had invaded our mother land then unscrupulous deny the history written in black and white?
What if a person, on one hand is a patriot from tip to toe and willing to sacrifice his life to his country if Japan dare to wage a war against China(if possible) while one the other hand he is a Japanese culture vulture?
What if the shop the mob smashed is owned by a hard working Chinese businessman? Had they committed a crime? Are the masses just venting their discontentment which accumulates day by day because of the appalling unfairness in the reality?
Is it true we just take Japan or international trade as an outlet?
Patriotism is not nationalistic fever, not intense ethnic emotion. We need to calm down and differentiate ethnical frenzy and moderate sober patriotism.
In addition, there is always danger to ignore the real problematic issue such as political corruption, academic plagiarism, educational unfairness, and social classes polarizing which are screaming for our attention and should be our priority.
What has been called for in the loudest voice is usually the most lacking one. Ramble roars in the movie “First Blood”-I have done everything for my country, what has my country done for me?! Nowadays, we badly need a rewritten version of Kennedy’s famous saying “ask not only what you can do for your country but also what your country can do for you.”

Thank you Oxford, and thank you Oxford Union.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to be here todayand that you have afforded me this opportunity tospeak to you.
I must confess, I am somewhat mystified as to whyyou are here. Because there won't be any singing, any hip-shaking. What so ever.
So, how do I, a girl from Barranquilla, Colombia come to occupy the same stage as Newton andChurchill. Lord knows I'm no Mother Teresa, but here I am, nonetheless.
I realize that one point of view from which I can depart is that of an artist. After all, it is who Iam. We artists depend on our imaginations.
When I first learned I was coming, I thought about the past and I imagined the future. Fromyour minds, ideas will sprout that will give new shape to the world. I cannot help but fast-forward to what the world will be like in 50 years. What will be happening? Who will we be?What challenges can we overcome? How will we live?

There is a big tree in the forest. Crows live in the tree.
There is a hole under the tree. There is a fox in the hole.
One day, the crow took a piece of meat and stood on the tree to rest. Thefox saw it.
The fox was greedy for the meat from the crow.
The fox could not get it under the tree because the crow had meat in itsmouth on the branch.
The coveting of meat made the fox unwilling to give up easily.
He turned his eyes and said, "Dear crow, how are you?" the crow did notanswer.
The fox had to smile and say, "Dear crow, how is your child?" the crowlooked at the fox, but did not answer.
The fox wagged his tail and spoke for the third time: "Dear crow, yourfeathers are so beautiful. Sparrow is far from you.
Your voice is very good. Everyone loves to hear you sing. Would you like tosing a few words? "The crow was very proud when he heard this: he said I have agood voice, and the only one who loves to hear me sing is you, the fox, so hesang happily.
As soon as he opened his mouth, the meat fell from his mouth.
The fox took the meat and went into the hole, leaving only the crows to"sing" there.

Growth, so that everything becomes taken by surprise, I stood clear that, called the threshold, while the pure juvenile, adult side of the vicissitudes of life, some at a loss and what to do, I know that when their children have gone through the aryl when the grass to meet the many people I write about the so-called "rainy season."
The epic life opened a new chapter.
Growing, when we began to pure self-integration into the alien society, growing pains and pressures will not become free in early. And our lives in the constant subject of annoyance to overcome and resolve in one day change the world, the growth of stereotypes.
Growth, the most desire is that with people, the most trouble is to get along with others. When I entered this class, an unfamiliar environment for I am depressed, terrified. And High, in my doubt came to me ... ...
Many nights, I dreamed of and one of the students had a wonderful time spent together. More thoughts, the more his heart is closer lock. Thus, isolation and loneliness, like a thief just like the volatility. To get up that morning, the dizziness. Roommate to see me look bad, with concern, said: "Never, right?" I shook his head, they see nothing, I said, no longer speak. But I can see their eyes for a long time in good faith and fraternity. Later, the headache was not a person to leave the teacher, went to the clinic, the doctor said that in a cold,吊針fight. Looked at the syrup bottle in a drop into the my body, I feel very sad.
Looking at the road outside the yellow lights, helplessness and loneliness of the body I occupy. Suddenly recall a time when illness, friends of the deep feeling anxious face, and concern about the words, but it all seems more and more distant from me, and all are increasingly blurred.
I do not know how long after, a sudden I can not help but the wind caught pitched battle. Then, I see a Blur full Zhang's face, that they, my friends room. They seem to have the face of the winds because the wind has become clear, Smart.
I am full of psychological warmth. I know that in my heart the moment before locking the door, and their greetings and laughter as warm.
Now, I found their advantages: some humorous, some wisdom, it was moderate, it was good, but more importantly, I found that this new focus in the same unity, and fraternity.
Now I'm re-learned how to exchange, learn how to communicate, more importantly, learned how to grow.
Met with high non-butterfly wings, butterfly seen just dance, but we can not ex Meiyan forget the origin of the butterfly. The suffering there is no hard and painful struggle and waiting, how can a shell at the time of amazing wings?
Growth is the pain in the United States, but also the well-being.

HOW ARE TV PICTURES MADE?
A TV picture starts with a TV camera. Some TV cameras are big and some are small. The cameras in TV studios are big. Camera operators roll the big cameras around on wheels. There are usually several big cameras in a TV studio. Cameras used outside a TV studio are smaller. TV camera crews take the smaller cameras to news and sports events.
Some cameras send out live pictures to your TV set. Some cameras make videotapes that get played later on a television program.
All TV cameras need electricity to work. A camera operator points the camera at a scene. The camera picks up light from the scene. It changes this light into an electric signal called the video signal. A microphone changes the sound of people talking or music playing into an electric signal called the audio signal.

My dear friends,
Should smoking be banned?
Different people have different opinions. Somesmokers think smoking is a kind of enjoyment, andthey could live without food but will die withoutsmoking. Also they said they have freedom ofsmoking and it has nothingto do with others. However a lot of non-smokers don't agree. In theiropinion, smoking is harmful to not onlysmokersthemselves but also public health especially thewoman and children. Therefore, many coutries have worked out lots to forbid smoking in publicplaces, such as cinemas, hospitals, stations etc. Nowadays, smokersmake up one quarter of theworld's population. If the problem of smoking is not dealt with seriously, human health will bein danger. So smoking should be banned in no time.

I want you to, for a moment, think about playing a game of Monopoly, except in this game, that combination of skill, talent and luck that help earn you success in games, as in life, has been rendered irrelevant, because this game's been rigged, and you've got the upper hand。 You've got more money, more opportunities to move around the board, and more access to resources。 And as you think about that experience, I want you to ask yourself, how might that experience of being a privileged player in a rigged game change the way that you think about yourself and regard that other player?
So we ran a study on the U。C。 Berkeley campus to look at exactly that question。 We brought in more than 100 pairs of strangers into the lab, and with the flip of a coin randomly assigned one of the two to be a rich player in a rigged game。 They got two times as much money。 When they passed Go, they collected twice the salary, and they got to roll both dice instead of one, so they got to move around the board a lot more。 (Laughter) And over the course of 15 minutes, we watched through hidden cameras what happened。 And what I want to do today, for the first time, is show you a little bit of what we saw。 You're going to have to pardon the sound quality, in some cases, because again, these were hidden cameras。 So we've provided subtitles。 Rich Player: How many 500s did you have? Poor Player: Just one。
Rich Player: Are you serious。 Poor Player: Yeah。
Rich Player: I have three。 (Laughs) I don't know why they gave me so much。
Paul Piff: Okay, so it was quickly apparent to players that something was up。 One person clearly has a lot more money than the other person, and yet, as the game unfolded, we saw very notable differences and dramatic differences begin to emerge between the two players。 The rich player started to move around the board louder, literally smacking the board with their piece as he went around。 We were more likely to see signs of dominance and nonverbal signs, displays of power and celebration among the rich players。
We had a bowl of pretzels positioned off to the side。 It's on the bottom right corner there。 That allowed us to watch participants' consummatory behavior。 So we're just tracking how many pretzels participants eat。
Rich Player: Are those pretzels a trick?
Poor Player: I don't know。
PP: Okay, so no surprises, people are onto us。 They wonder what that bowl of pretzels is doing there in the first place。 One even asks, like you just saw, is that bowl of pretzels there as a trick? And yet, despite that, the power of the situation seems to inevitably dominate, and those rich players start to eat more pretzels。
Rich Player: I love pretzels。
。↙aughter)
PP: And as the game went on, one of the really interesting and dramatic patterns that we observed begin to emerge was that the rich players actually started to become ruder toward the other person, less and less sensitive to the plight of those poor, poor players, and more and more demonstrative of their material success, more likely to showcase how well they're doing。 Rich Player: I have money for everything。 Poor Player: How much is that? Rich Player: You owe me 24 dollars。 You're going to lose all your money soon。 I'll buy it。 I have so much money。 I have so much money, it takes me forever。 Rich Player 2: I'm going to buy out this whole board。 Rich Player 3: You're going to run out of money soon。 I'm pretty much untouchable at this point。
PP: Okay, and here's what I think was really, really interesting, is that at the end of the 15 minutes, we asked the players to talk about their experience during the game。 And when the rich players talked about why they had inevitably won in this rigged game of Monopoly —— (Laughter) — they talked about what they'd done to buy those different properties and earn their success in the game, and they became far less attuned to all those different features of the situation, including that flip of a coin that had randomly gotten them into that privileged position in the first place。 And that's a really, really incredible insight into how the mind makes sense of advantage。
Now this game of Monopoly can be used as a metaphor for understanding society and its hierarchical structure, wherein some people have a lot of wealth and a lot of status, and a lot of people don't。 They have a lot less wealth and a lot less status and a lot less access to valued resources。 And what my colleagues and I for the last seven years have been doing is studying the effects of these kinds of hierarchies。 What we've been finding across dozens of studies and thousands of participants across this country is that as a person's levels of wealth increase, their feelings of compassion and empathy go down, and their feelings of entitlement, of deservingness, and their ideology of self—interest increases。 In surveys, we found that it's actually wealthier individuals who are more likely to moralize greed being good, and that the pursuit of self—interest is favorable and moral。 Now what I want to do today is talk about some of the implications of this ideology self—interest, talk about why we should care about those implications, and end with what might be done。

Eagle flying in the vast firmament, must be experienced the pain of countless times fall under the cliff, then hammered out a pair of volley wings. a shinning of pearls, inevitably suffered countless body friction and numerous waves’ shock. in this view, a real successful people, and he must experienced numerous times to stand up again and agin after failed, because without sweat and tears on the life road ,no one can casually get the beautiful flowers.
Alfter a heavy fall shi tiesheng lost his legs, it must be a heavy blow for anyone. but he didn't lose faith in life, but use his brain and hands to show the infinite love of life; beethoven was blind and deaf, but he still had written the "hero" "destiny" and so on a large number of music works, in his unfortunately life, he doggedly gripped the "fate of the throat. they all had a fall, but they are strong enough to stand up, fight against fate and misfortune, finally they succeed. so for each of us, wrestling is not terrible, lose confidence and courage in life is the most terribe thing. in my opionion, the sweat and tears during the life’ journey are very important for us, they hone our will, and enrich our experience. as the saying goes, how can you see the rainbow without a rainy day, while you don't work hard and not struggle, how can you gain the successful flowers.
All in all, the sweat and tears on the struggling road is inevitable, don’t look for shortcuts anymore, steadfast walk every step, we will succeed in the end. so belief yourself, nothing is impossile, just do it.
Thank you for taking your time to listen to my speech, i hope in the near future we all can be successful.

Harry S. Truman: "The Truman Doctrine"
Mr. President, Mr. Speaker, Members of the Congress of the United States:
The gravity of the situation which confronts the world today necessitates my appearance before a joint session of the Congress. The foreign policy and the national security of this country are involved. One aspect of the present situation, which I present to you at this time for your consideration and decision, concerns Greece and Turkey. The United States has received from the Greek Government an urgent appeal for financial and economic assistance. Preliminary reports from the American Economic Mission now in Greece and reports from the American Ambassador in Greece corroborate the statement of the Greek Government that assistance is imperative if Greece is to survive as a free nation.
I do not believe that the American people and the Congress wish to turn a deaf ear to the appeal of the Greek Government. Greece is not a rich country. Lack of sufficient natural resources has always forced the Greek people to work hard to make both ends meet. Since 1940, this industrious, peace loving country has suffered invasion, four years of cruel enemy occupation, and bitter internal strife.
When forces of liberation entered Greece they found that the retreating Germans had destroyed virtually all the railways, roads, port facilities, communications, and merchant marine. More than a thousand villages had been burned. Eighty-five per cent of the children were tubercular. Livestock, poultry, and draft animals had almost disappeared. Inflation had wiped out practically all savings. As a result of these tragic conditions, a militant minority, exploiting human want and misery, was able to create political chaos which, until now, has made economic recovery impossible.
Greece is today without funds to finance the importation of those goods which are essential to bare subsistence. Under these circumstances, the people of Greece cannot make progress in solving their problems of reconstruction. Greece is in desperate need of financial and economic assistance to enable it to resume purchases of food, clothing, fuel, and seeds. These are indispensable for the subsistence of its people and are obtainable only from abroad. Greece must have help to import the goods necessary to restore internal order and security, so essential for economic and political recovery. The Greek Government has also asked for the assistance of experienced American administrators, economists, and technicians to insure that the financial and other aid given to Greece shall be used effectively in creating a stable and self-sustaining economy and in improving its public administration.
The very existence of the Greek state is today threatened by the terrorist activities of several thousand armed men, led by Communists, who defy the government's authority at a number of points, particularly along the northern boundaries. A Commission appointed by the United Nations security Council is at present investigating disturbed conditions in northern Greece and alleged border violations along the frontiers between Greece on the one hand and Albania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia on the other.
Meanwhile, the Greek Government is unable to cope with the situation. The Greek army is small and poorly equipped. It needs supplies and equipment if it is to restore authority of the government throughout Greek territory. Greece must have assistance if it is to become a self-supporting and self-respecting democracy. The United States must supply this assistance. We have already extended to Greece certain types of relief and economic aid. But these are inadequate. There is no other country to which democratic Greece can turn. No other nation is willing and able to provide the necessary support for a democratic Greek government.
The British Government, which has been helping Greece, can give no further financial or economic aid after March 31st. Great Britain finds itself under the necessity of reducing or liquidating its commitments in several parts of the world, including Greece.
We have considered how the United Nations might assist in this crisis. But the situation is an urgent one, requiring immediate action, and the United Nations and its related organizations are not in a position to extend help of the kind that is required.
It is important to note that the Greek Government has asked for our aid in utilizing effectively the financial and other assistance we may give to Greece, and in improving its public administration. It is of the utmost importance that we supervise the use of any funds made available to Greece in such a manner that each dollar spent will count toward making Greece self-supporting, and will help to build an economy in which a healthy democracy can flourish.
No government is perfect. One of the chief virtues of a democracy, however, is that its defects are always visible and under democratic processes can be pointed out and corrected. The Government of Greece is not perfect. Nevertheless it represents eighty-five per cent of the members of the Greek Parliament who were chosen in an election last year. Foreign observers, including 692 Americans, considered this election to be a fair expression of the views of the Greek people.
The Greek Government has been operating in an atmosphere of chaos and extremism. It has made mistakes. The extension of aid by this country does not mean that the United States condones everything that the Greek Government has done or will do. We have condemned in the past, and we condemn now, extremist measures of the right or the left. We have in the past advised tolerance, and we advise tolerance now.
Greek's neighbor, Turkey, also deserves our attention. The future of Turkey, as an independent and economically sound state, is clearly no less important to the freedom-loving peoples of the world than the future of Greece. The circumstances in which Turkey finds itself today are considerably different from those of Greece. Turkey has been spared the disasters that have beset Greece. And during the war, the United States and Great Britain furnished Turkey with material aid.
Nevertheless, Turkey now needs our support. Since the war, Turkey has sought financial assistance from Great Britain and the United States for the purpose of effecting that modernization necessary for the maintenance of its national integrity. That integrity is essential to the preservation of order in the Middle East. The British government has informed us that, owing to its own difficulties, it can no longer extend financial or economic aid to Turkey. As in the case of Greece, if Turkey is to have the assistance it needs, the United States must supply it. We are the only country able to provide that help.
I am fully aware of the broad implications involved if the United States extends assistance to Greece and Turkey, and I shall discuss these implications with you at this time. One of the primary objectives of the foreign policy of the United States is the creation of conditions in which we and other nations will be able to work out a way of life free from coercion. This was a fundamental issue in the war with Germany and Japan. Our victory was won over countries which sought to impose their will, and their way of life, upon other nations.
To ensure the peaceful development of nations, free from coercion, the United States has taken a leading part in establishing the United Nations. The United Nations is designed to make possible lasting freedom and independence for all its members. We shall not realize our objectives, however, unless we are willing to help free peoples to maintain their free institutions and their national integrity against aggressive movements that seek to impose upon them totalitarian regimes. This is no more than a frank recognition that totalitarian regimes imposed upon free peoples, by direct or indirect aggression, undermine the foundations of international peace, and hence the security of the United States.
The peoples of a number of countries of the world have recently had totalitarian regimes forced upon them against their will. The Government of the United States has made frequent protests against coercion and intimidation in violation of the Yalta agreement in Poland, Rumania, and Bulgaria. I must also state that in a number of other countries there have been similar developments.
At the present moment in world history nearly every nation must choose between alternative ways of life. The choice is too often not a free one. One way of life is based upon the will of the majority, and is distinguished by free institutions, representative government, free elections, guarantees of individual liberty, freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from political oppression. The second way of life is based upon the will of a minority forcibly imposed upon the majority. It relies upon terror and oppression, a controlled press and radio, fixed elections, and the suppression of personal freedoms.
I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.
I believe that we must assist free peoples to work out their own destinies in their own way.
I believe that our help should be primarily through economic and financial aid which is essential to economic stability and orderly political processes.
The world is not static, and the status quo is not sacred. But we cannot allow changes in the status quo in violation of the Charter of the United Nations by such methods as coercion, or by such subterfuges as political infiltration. In helping free and independent nations to maintain their freedom, the United States will be giving effect to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
It is necessary only to glance at a map to realize that the survival and integrity of the Greek nation are of grave importance in a much wider situation. If Greece should fall under the control of an armed minority, the effect upon its neighbor, Turkey, would be immediate and serious. Confusion and disorder might well spread throughout the entire Middle East. Moreover, the disappearance of Greece as an independent state would have a profound effect upon those countries in Europe whose peoples are struggling against great difficulties to maintain their freedoms and their independence while they repair the damages of war.
It would be an unspeakable tragedy if these countries, which have struggled so long against overwhelming odds, should lose that victory for which they sacrificed so much. Collapse of free institutions and loss of independence would be disastrous not only for them but for the world. Discouragement and possibly failure would quickly be the lot of neighboring peoples striving to maintain their freedom and independence.
Should we fail to aid Greece and Turkey in this fateful hour, the effect will be far reaching to the West as well as to the East.
We must take immediate and resolute action. I therefore ask the Congress to provide authority for assistance to Greece and Turkey in the amount of $400,000,000 for the period ending June 30, 1948. In requesting these funds, I have taken into consideration the maximum amount of relief assistance which would be furnished to Greece out of the $350,000,000 which I recently requested that the Congress authorize for the prevention of starvation and suffering in countries devastated by the war.
In addition to funds, I ask the Congress to authorize the detail of American civilian and military personnel to Greece and Turkey, at the request of those countries, to assist in the tasks of reconstruction, and for the purpose of supervising the use of such financial and material assistance as may be furnished. I recommend that authority also be provided for the instruction and training of selected Greek and Turkish personnel. Finally, I ask that the Congress provide authority which will permit the speediest and most effective use, in terms of needed commodities, supplies, and equipment, of such funds as may be authorized. If further funds, or further authority, should be needed for purposes indicated in this message, I shall not hesitate to bring the situation before the Congress. On this subject the Executive and Legislative branches of the Government must work together.
This is a serious course upon which we embark. I would not recommend it except that the alternative is much more serious. The United States contributed $341,000,000,000 toward winning World War II. This is an investment in world freedom and world peace. The assistance that I am recommending for Greece and Turkey amounts to little more than 1 tenth of 1 per cent of this investment. It is only common sense that we should safeguard this investment and make sure that it was not in vain. The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died.
We must keep that hope alive.
The free peoples of the world look to us for support in maintaining their freedoms. If we falter in our leadership, we may endanger the peace of the world. And we shall surely endanger the welfare of this nation.
Great responsibilities have been placed upon us by the swift movement of events.
I am confident that the Congress will face these responsibilities squarely.

Dear teachers and students
hello everyone!
In order to ensure the safety and stability of the school, prevent various accidents and create a good safety environment for the construction of a "safe campus", I used today's speech time under the national flag to carry out winter safety education for all the students of the school, and talked with the students on how to prevent fire safety in winter. It is hoped that students will not only popularize safety knowledge, but also enhance safety awareness through such safety education activities.
1. Fire is a friend of mankind. It brings light and warmth to people, human civilization and social progress. However, if the fire is out of control and becomes a fire, it will cause huge losses to people's lives and property. Students should fully understand the harm and possible serious consequences of playing with fire, and resolutely refrain from playing with fire at any time. Students should urge and remind each other.
2. Students should take good care of the fire-fighting facilities in the teaching building and dormitory building, and protect all kinds of electrical switches, power lines, fire hydrants and fire extinguishers in the campus.
3. Be especially careful with fire. Do not place inflammables and explosives near the fire source. In case of air leakage, quickly close the valve and open the window at the same time. Do not touch electrical switches or use open flames to avoid explosion. 4. In daily life, in case of fire, you should dial "119" to call the police quickly. When smoke comes out, you should cover your mouth with wet clothes and escape near the ground. Never be greedy for money, because life comes first.
5. Pay attention to the 'circulation' of indoor air in winter, especially when heating and bathing, open windows for ventilation to prevent gas and carbon monoxide poisoning. The lessons of history are heavy.
Safety first is the most fundamental guarantee of family happiness. Improve your ability to prevent and protect yourself anytime, anywhere, and connect you and me safely! Let's work together to make our life shine, share safe sunshine, enjoy safe happiness, and work together to create a harmonious, healthy and lively campus atmosphere!
Thank you!

Ilana Wexler's speech at 20xx
My name is Ilana Wexler. I'm 12 years old, and I am the founder of “Kids for Kerry.”
Kids for Kerry is a grassroots organization of kids that support John Kerry, want to help their futures, and get active in politics.
When my parents went to see Teresa Heinz Kerry speak, they told me that she was amazing! -- and that they thought John Kerry would make a great President. I decided to find out more about John Kerry. I talk about what I learned by using my ABCs.
“A” is America. John Kerry is a hero to America, and he will help our futures. He is a great and positive role model.
“B” is Better education. John Kerry wants to make class sizes smaller, so that children get the best part out of learning. He wants to help teachers because being a teacher is educating children, and letting them out into the world to do good things.
“C” is Compassion towards children. John Kerry wants to make sure that health care is not a privilege, but it is something that we can all afford.
This summer, I was supposed to go to my favorite camp. But instead, I decided to go to the John Kerry office every day. Kids can really help!
On , we have an interactive presidential quiz. There are 270 questions for the electoral votes John Kerry will win. Plus, 25 questions to make up for Florida from the last election.
Our next goal is to have a petition for “National No Name-Calling Day,” a day that the candidates don't say anything negative about one another. When our Vice President had a disagreement with a Democratic senator, he used a REALLY BAD word.
If I said that -- If I said that word, I would be put in a “time-out.”
I think he should be put in a time-out.

Good morning,ladies and gentlemen.
Have you ever heard of Lin Dan or Li Zongwei ?I guess the answer is a big Yes.But do you know a badminton player from Brazil? His name is Yogg.Well,Today, let’s begin with his story.
With smelly streets, spider webs and dreadful security,it is the slum of Rio,a forgotten place.Fortunately, sports lightened it. A noticeable mark of this slum is the court for badminton.About 200 boys and girls come here to practice badminton on every training day.Yogg was just one of them.A couple of years ago, badminton was introduced to Yogg for the first time.Since then,Yogg was obsessed with badminton and he said: "Everytime when I play badminton,I feel like I were a badminton, which could fly out of the slum!" And yes,he did it!The sports carried him far away from guns, drugs and alcohol. He successfully participated in the badminton game of the Olympics this year.Sports saved him.
That’s the sports’ miracle to change an individual. But more than that, sports can change the world as well.
In the year 1971, Beijing received a special group of people. They are the Ping-pong players and journalists from America. Several
days later,Chinese ping-pong team paid a return visit, which created an international sensation .Since then, the ice was broken and this led to the normalization of Sino-US relations.American president Nixon of that time recalled: "Small the ping-pong,strong the power.Just a ball promotes the development between China and America"Not only are we two countries changed by sports, there’s more.British and German troops held a temporary ceasefire on Christmas Day during the World War two; each country on the planet gathers together to enjoy Olympics every four years.;even the two Korean delegations stepped into the stadium simultaneously because of sports.
I know sports can bring us a sight of our potential;I know sports can bring us minds unafraid to fight, even though the trail without victory;I know sports can bring the world the power to celebrate, the reason to unite and the courage to be better. And we know,we know the power of sports.
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s shake the world by the power of sports.

Honorable judges, ladies and gentleman, good morning.
I want you to tell me something. What’s the first thing that pops into yourmind when you hear the word faith, a sacred and heart-warming word that’ssupposed to remind you of all the beauties and goodness of life, the key thatused to keep us going when confronted with all sorts of hardships and obstacles. However, when I hear the word faith, the thing it reminds me of is so remote andintangible. In this rich and peaceful era, there aren’t as many disasters orwars, especially for us young people whose lives are much easier and wealthierthan our fathers’. So is faith gradually losing its significance in the humanworld nowadays?
Like many of others, I used to think of faith as of no importance at all,and I deemed myself as a faithless person. I thought I can live my lifeperfectly fine without intentionally grasping something as my faith. Until oneday I met an American Christian named John, who later became a very good friendof mine. John is an extremely faithful Christian, and he thinks of Jesus Christas his lord. He, as a pastor, tried to convert me into a Christian when we firstmet. So he lectured me with his extensive knowledge of history and philosophyevery time we hung out. In spite of his amazingly detailed desc ription of thehistory of Jesus, what really got me intrigued is not the story he told, instead, is John himself as probably the first and most faithful person I’ve metin my entire life. I can feel the sparks in his eyes when he talks aboutbiblical things, and I am so touched by the integrity of him when he says:”Jesus Christ is the ultimate pursuit of my life” without any hesitation ordoubt.
The more we got along, the more I became jealous of him, because he alwaysseems to be joyful and optimistic. When I ask him how he manages it, he said:”I’ve had bad days too, but I also know that God is with me. So I know that it’llall be okay.” Suddenly it occurred to me how lucky it is to have something youcan completely put your trust into, something that will bring you strength whenyour mind is weak, something that reminds you “ it’s not so bad” when you’refilled with sorrow, something that gives your existence significance and bringit up to a higher level. So I was literally converted, not into a Christian, notinto someone faithful either, but into someone who wants to be as faithful atleast.
That was the first time I am exposed to the power of faith. To put itsimple, your life is complete only if you have faith. You must find somethingimportant and significant in your life, your purpose, your pursuit, whatever youcall it. I’m not saying faith must relate to religion or God. It could beanything. It could be your career goal, your children, your lover, fellowship,or a certain kind of life style, anything, as long as you dare to trust yourlife in it with your heart of hearts.
Now I’m still faithless. I haven’t become a Christian or find what mattersto me most yet. But what John gave me is whole new perspective to see life. SoI’ll strive to really feel and touch the beauty in life and won’t take it forgranted. And that’s also what I encourage all of us to do. Keep looking for thefaith of your own, and when you do, you’ll know it’s all worth it.

If there is any single factor that makes for success in living, it is theability to profit by defeat. Every success I know has been achieved because theperson was able to analyze defeat and actually profit by it in his nextundertaking. Confuse defeat with failure, and you are doomed indeed to failure. For it isn't defeat that makes you fail: it is your own refusal to see in defeatthe guide and encouragement to success.
Defeats are nothing to be ashamed of. They are routine incidents in thelife of every man who achieves success. But defeat is a dead loss unless you doface it without humiliation, analyze it and learn why you failed. Defeat, inother words, can help to cure its own cause. Not only does defeat prepare us forsuccess, but nothing can arouse within us such a compelling desire to succeed. If you let a baby grasp a rod and try to pull it away, he will cling more andmore tightly until his whole weight is suspended. It is this same reaction whichshould give you new and greater strength every time you are defeated. If youexploit the power which defeat gives, you can accomplish with it far more thanyou are capable of.

I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speech is Protect the Environment, Protect Ourselves. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste pa-pe-r and used coke cans are discarded everywhere. You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the rivers and polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live, but it is being ruined by us.
There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees. How comfortable the life was!
One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity!
But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task.
As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution? I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology.
In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars. Secondly, we can try to use lewater and make sure that we do not pollute the water. We can tell factories that they are not allowed to pour waste water into the lakes and rivers.
Thirdly, we should not throw rubbish in parks and cities. We can pick up rubbish if we see it. We can put more rubbish bins in our parks and cities. Fourthly, we can live far from the noise and make the laws to limit the noise.

I have a dream today
hello everyone!
I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.
Thank you!

There is a wonderful word which expresses the most original motions anddesires among human-beings. With solving any kind of imperfections, our worldhas moved ahead. This is the word “innovation” that we cannot afford tolose.
We chicaned every detail of the innovation. Thousands years before, wecreated fire when we took a stone to knock another one. Since Han Dynasty, fourgreat inventions had been created and it is one of the greatest signs that Chinabecome to the ancient civilized country. And nowadays, thousands of software, products, architectures and public facilities have upgraded more than that about100 years ago. So how did these happen? What will you do if you are notsatisfied with your tools anymore? What will you do if old mode cannot afford todevelop in a company? There is no doubt that we should innovate no matter wherewe are and what we do. Not because of the design itself, but actually for itsintended purpose.
If there was no Apple, everyone could not imagine how to contact otherseasily and enjoy a better Internet surfing.
If there was no Microsoft, perhaps we still worked in a dim office andduplicate some troublesome documents. If there was no Newton, and no theory ofgravity, maybe I will win the Nobel Prize like Newton rather than just standinghere. I have heard that three apple changed the world. The first one seducedEve. The second one awakened Newton. The third one was in the hands of SteveJobs. We sort of think the innovation of the world began with apple. I imaginelots of people want to become another Newton or Jobs right now with just onehand to change the world, right? Have the innovation to follow your heart. Itsomehow already reflects what you truly want to become. Everything else issecondary.
Via questioning, we can start to innovate. Via innovating, we can start tocreate better lives. No innovation, no improvement. No improvement, no success. And no success, no civilization. Now, our time is limited, so don't waste itliving someone else's life! Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown outyour own inner voice! Don't let yourself down! It is the innovation that wecannot afford to lose!

It is quite imporlant to be a good listener. effective listening is more than simply avoiding the bad habit of interrupting others while they are speaking. its being content to listen to the entire thought of someone rather than waiting impatiently for your chance to respond.
Slowing down your responses and becoming a better listener aids you in becoming a more amiable person. as you wait for the person you are communicating with to finish, as you simply listen more intently to what is being said, you will feel more relaed, and so will the people you are talking to. not only will being a better listener make you a more patient person, but it will also improve your relationship with others because everyone loves to talk to someone who truly listens to what they are saying.
It is quite easy for you to be a better listener. as long as you for get yourself and imagine yourself in the speakers eperience to understand the emotion behind the words, and then give your appropriate responses slowly, you will be an endeared listener.

the american tradition of "trick-or-treating" probably dates back to the early all souls' day parades in england. during the festivities, poor citizens would beg for food and families would give them pastries called "soul cakes" in return for their promise to pray for the family's dead relatives.
the distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits. the practice, which was referred to as "going a-souling" was eventually taken up by children who would visit the houses in their neighborhood and be given ale, food, and money.
the tradition of dressing in costume for halloween has both european and celtic roots. hundreds of years ago, winter was an uncertain and frightening time. food supplies often ran low and, for the many people afraid of the dark, the short days of winter were full of constant worry. on halloween, when it was believed that ghosts came back to the earthly world, people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they left their homes.
to avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. on halloween, to keep ghosts away from their houses, people would place bowls of food outside their homes to appease the ghosts and prevent them from attempting to enter.

There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide。 First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem。 More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend。 -
As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never。 Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend。 The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again。 I am firmly convinced that through our bined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead。-

Distinguished leaders, distinguished judges, dear colleagues:
Everybody is good!
The title of my speech today is -- the attitude determines everything. In front of the working face, the attitude decides everything. No important work, only do not attach importance to the work of the people. Different attitude, different achievements in life, what kind of attitude will produce what kind of behavior, which determines the different results. There is such a story: three workers build a wall. A man came and asked them: "what are you doing?" The first man looked up and said with a wry smile: "cant you see? Wall! I am carrying those heavy stones do terribly. This is really tiring...... second people looked up and said with a wry smile: "we have to build a high-rise. But this job really is not easy ah...... third people smile said happily: "we are building a new city. The building we now cover the future will become one of the iconic city! Think of to be able to participate in such a project, is really exciting."
Ten years later, the first person still in the wall; second people sit in the office drawing -- he became engineer; third people, is the former owner of two people. Visible, a persons work attitude reflected the attitude of life, and life attitude determines a persons achievements in life. Everyone is working trajectory is different, some people become the mainstay of the unit, to realize their value; some people have been unsuccessfully; some people complain, always think different, but in theendstill nothing known, except for a few genius, most of theendowment is almost the same.
So, what makes us in, we decided? I want to be "attitude"! We do anything, the key to success is not the objective factors, but in our work attitude. Objective difficulties do exist, the key is we are facing difficulties, solve problems, or to avoid difficulties, give up in the face of difficulties, this is a question of attitude. Mr. Lu Xun said: "the true warrior, dare to face the bleak life, and dare to face up to the dripping blood". As long as we take a positive attitude in the face of difficulties, not intimidated by difficulties, must be able to overcome difficulties, to become a living and working in the warrior! In real life, we often hear such complaints: "work is very tired, very few" money, "do the same job, why he earns more than me?" "Why, leading only pay attention to him, he entrusted the task?" Indeed, indeed there are instances in practice. Work with emotions, certainly not a performance. Just imagine, the left hand side stood a positive attitude, the right hand side stood a get disheartened, everything shook his head and staff, leadership will make what kind of choice? Work and life needs passion and action, need to work, need a proactive, initiative, which requires us to take a positive attitude towards work towards others treat life.
A positive attitude to take responsibility, to be able to unite, to innovation, to deal with all kinds of complex problems. The attitude decides to choose! Attitude thoughts! Attitude determines destiny! Attitude decides everything! Let us startfromnow on, with a positive attitude to the courage to go beyond the self, and constantly improve themselves, to enrich our lives! Thank you.

ladies and gentlemen:
my topic is honesty.
as a correspondent of the qingdao morning news, i visited dr. james gilman, the president of the international committee for marco polo studies in england. in this picture, this is james, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. this is a true story.
65 years ago, james lived in qingdao. then he was only 5 years old. he often visited the aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. he was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
he kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. it was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. finally he decided to put right his childish error. in , he visited qingdao and returned it to the aquarium with his sincere apologies. he received a warm welcome.
when james visited qingdao, i accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. i was deeply touched by his honesty. it has taught me a lot. i think to err is human. the important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.
honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. so we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. i would like to say to all of my friends: let’s be honest people of good moral character.
thank you very much.

now i seriously want to thank you for that. i had to take that picture. my mother always took photos of me at every progress point growing up. shesquo;d show off those photos to everyone who came to our house, and she would be so proud that i am here at my old stomping ground with all of you.
so, now graduates, itsquo;s certainly your day, but president price already reminded us itsquo;s mothe’s day – but you know women never get enough love, never. so the one day we have here to offer a deserved salute to those who bore us biologically and those who stood in as surrogates for many of our needs and wants – deserve some more love. i want all the graduates to stand up and give their mothers and their surrogate mothers some love. thank you.
now this is my first mothe’s day without my own mother, who i lost last august.
and while shesquo;s not here physically, i can still hear her voice when i reach a significant milestone or face what appears to be an insurmountable obstacle.
and if she were here today, i know exactly what she would say to you.
in response to your achievement, it would, no doubt, be crisp and compelling a show of support: you did it! and she would offer you a huge smile and an even bigger hug.
but she would also keep it real with you like she always did with me. she would tell you that your future, like any of ours, is going to be hard work. i can hear her say: lisa, listen to me and hear me clearly. adversity is like the agitator in the washing machine. it beats the heck out of the clothes, but theysquo;re clean when they come out.
