　　Americans view themselves as highly individualistic in their thoughts andactions. They resist being thought of as representatives of any homogeneousgroup. When they do join groups, they believe they are special. Just a littledifferent from other members of the same group. In the U.S. you will find peoplefreely expressing a variety of opinions anywhere and anytime. Yet, in spite ofthis independence, almost all Americans end up voting for one of their two majorpolitical parties. Individualism leads to privacy, which Americans see asdesirable. The word privacy does not exist in many non-Western languages. If Itdoes, it is likely to have a negative connotation, suggesting loneliness orforced isolation. It is not uncommon for Americans to say, and almost tobelieve: "If I don't have half an hour a day to myself, I go stark-ravingmad!"

　　Americans take credit only for what they accomplish as individuals. Theyget no credit for having been born into a rich family but pride themselves inhaving climbed the ladder of success, to whatever level, all by themselves. Inan English-language dictionary, there are more than 100 composite words thathave the word "self" as a prefix: self-aware. self-confident, self-conscious,self-contented, self-control, self-criticism, self-deception, self-defeating,self-denial. The equivalent of these words cannot be found in most otherlanguages. It is an indicator of how highly Americans regard the self-made manor woman.

　　Many other countries have developed subtle, sometimes highly ritualistic,ways of informing others of unpleasant information. Americans prefer the directapproach. They are likely to be completely honest in delivering their negativeevaluations, and to consider, anything other than the most direct and openapproach to be "dishonest" and "insincere". 　　目前的形勢(shì)決定了英語(yǔ)學(xué)科的重要性，請(qǐng)各位家長(zhǎng)務(wù)必重視英語(yǔ)這一學(xué)科，你們思想上重視了，無(wú)形中也給孩子以熏陶，重視與不重視肯定是完全不同的，在英語(yǔ)課堂上，大部分學(xué)生都能很活躍的回答老師提出的問(wèn)題，積極跟著老師拼讀單詞，朗讀課文。其實(shí)這也制造了一種假象，學(xué)生認(rèn)為自己常常被老師提問(wèn)，認(rèn)為自己能夠回答老師的問(wèn)題，于是認(rèn)為自己的英語(yǔ)學(xué)得很不錯(cuò)，自我感覺特別好。于是下課后在英語(yǔ)上花的時(shí)間就少了。其實(shí)要學(xué)好英語(yǔ)，課上占40%，其余的60%還需要學(xué)生在課后不斷的鞏固，加深記憶。在課上老師更多的是教授新知識(shí)，當(dāng)然課上也會(huì)有少量的時(shí)間鞏固新學(xué)的知識(shí)。但是這些時(shí)間是公共的時(shí)間，而不是每個(gè)學(xué)生私有的時(shí)間，所以不可能照顧到每個(gè)學(xué)生，不可能讓所有學(xué)生都達(dá)到相同的程度。況且每個(gè)學(xué)生對(duì)新知識(shí)得接受能力都是不同的，有的可能當(dāng)堂就已經(jīng)有很深的印象，很難忘記，但這肯定是很少的。大部分學(xué)生都只能是初步接觸了新知識(shí)，要真正接受新知識(shí)還要學(xué)生在課后多下功夫，不然肯定會(huì)和別的同學(xué)拉下差距。

　　那么在課后學(xué)生到底該怎么做才能把其余的60%補(bǔ)回來(lái)呢？英語(yǔ)畢竟不是我們自己的語(yǔ)言，大多數(shù)學(xué)生除了英語(yǔ)課其余時(shí)間根本就不會(huì)想到要說(shuō)英語(yǔ)，所以，在課后一定要主動(dòng)抽時(shí)間為自己補(bǔ)習(xí)英語(yǔ)。學(xué)好英語(yǔ)，不外乎就是在聽，說(shuō)，讀，寫這些方面下功夫。

　　首先說(shuō)一下聽，每個(gè)學(xué)生都有和書相配套的磁帶，可是請(qǐng)各位家長(zhǎng)檢查一下自己的子女的英語(yǔ)磁帶，有多少學(xué)生的磁帶還是和剛發(fā)的時(shí)候一樣的，根本就沒有聽過(guò)。不要說(shuō)另外買什么英語(yǔ)聽力磁帶或者英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的碟片了，連自己手頭的磁帶都不去聽，光靠上課聽一點(diǎn)點(diǎn)的磁帶，學(xué)生的聽力根本就不能有什么發(fā)展。不會(huì)聽就不能說(shuō)，而說(shuō)白了，學(xué)了英語(yǔ)就是要說(shuō)，那不是白學(xué)了么？聽錄音機(jī)跟讀，目的應(yīng)該是兩種，一種同學(xué)是上課沒有完全消化，聽錄音是補(bǔ)充學(xué)習(xí)的過(guò)程，另外一種是提高自己的聽力和口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力，要學(xué)生盡力地去模仿錄音機(jī)里的發(fā)音，從而使自己的聽力和口語(yǔ)都提高一個(gè)層次。

　　接下來(lái)是說(shuō)，英語(yǔ)是一門語(yǔ)言，學(xué)了就是要說(shuō)，要和別人交流。我們學(xué)的英語(yǔ)不應(yīng)該是啞巴英語(yǔ)，要讓每個(gè)學(xué)生學(xué)會(huì)勇敢地說(shuō)出來(lái)。在課上我會(huì)用各種方法來(lái)刺激學(xué)生，激發(fā)他們說(shuō)英語(yǔ)的積極性，大多數(shù)學(xué)生也確實(shí)做得很好。可是班級(jí)里人多，對(duì)每個(gè)人來(lái)說(shuō)，說(shuō)的機(jī)會(huì)就少。所以下課也要說(shuō)；放學(xué)回家也要說(shuō)。在學(xué)校，我鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生把所學(xué)的英語(yǔ)對(duì)話運(yùn)用到生活中去，這樣有更真實(shí)的情景，更能讓學(xué)生有發(fā)揮的余地。在家里，希望家長(zhǎng)也能鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生說(shuō)英語(yǔ)，也許你會(huì)說(shuō)你自己也聽不懂，請(qǐng)不要這樣想，其實(shí)學(xué)生需要是你的鼓勵(lì)，你聽了他們說(shuō)的只要簡(jiǎn)單表?yè)P(yáng)一句，他們就會(huì)很滿足了。有時(shí)候你們也可以不懂裝懂，或者還可以讓學(xué)生反過(guò)來(lái)教你，他們會(huì)覺得很自豪，因?yàn)樽约核鶎W(xué)得派上了用場(chǎng)。

　　接下來(lái)是讀。有句話：“讀書破萬(wàn)卷，下筆如有神�！睂W(xué)英語(yǔ)也是這樣，很多家長(zhǎng)也明白，學(xué)英語(yǔ)要培養(yǎng)語(yǔ)感，也就是語(yǔ)言的感覺，如果有很好的語(yǔ)感，那么不管是說(shuō)話，做題目，還是寫文章，都很輕松，很簡(jiǎn)單了。那么語(yǔ)感怎么來(lái)呢？就是靠讀出來(lái)的。一定要讓學(xué)生養(yǎng)成每天讀英語(yǔ)的習(xí)慣，這是學(xué)英語(yǔ)的最基本的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣了。每天早上一定要讀20分鐘左右的英語(yǔ)，哪怕有時(shí)候時(shí)間來(lái)不及了，即使是遲到也要讀，并且每天都堅(jiān)持，絕不因任何原因間斷。無(wú)論什么事情都貴在堅(jiān)持嘛。如果你的子女還沒有養(yǎng)成這樣的學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣，請(qǐng)你一定要督促他，剛開始也許會(huì)比較難，時(shí)間久了，就會(huì)習(xí)慣成自然。就像早上起來(lái)要刷牙洗臉一樣，要讓他們把讀英語(yǔ)當(dāng)作每天必做的`一件事。

　　最后是寫。主要就是單詞短語(yǔ)的默寫，這是學(xué)英語(yǔ)的必經(jīng)之路。單詞往往背過(guò)就容易會(huì)忘記，所以要不斷的背默寫，不斷的翻新，這是沒有辦法的。背單詞的時(shí)候要邊拼邊寫，嘴巴和手都要?jiǎng)悠饋?lái)，嘴上十遍不如手上一遍。家長(zhǎng)在這里要作好檢查督促的工作，不要用不懂英語(yǔ)來(lái)幫助你的孩子學(xué)會(huì)偷懶，你可以報(bào)中文，讓你的孩子默寫，然后對(duì)照書本批改訂正，每天堅(jiān)持的話，你一定會(huì)有意想不到的效果。還有句型，學(xué)生應(yīng)該在課上領(lǐng)會(huì)句型的意思和運(yùn)用方法。課后還需要通過(guò)多讀課文，多練習(xí)才能鞏固所學(xué)的句型。所以請(qǐng)各位家長(zhǎng)不光要注重孩子背單詞短語(yǔ)的情況，還要讓他重視句子的重要性。
