Christmas Day
Christmas Day falls on the twenty-fifth of December. It is a very happy day for many boys and girls . Before the term ends in some schools , the children act a nativity or “birth” play, showing how Jesus was born in a stable.
On the twenty-fourth of December, all children are very excited. Usually they are sent to bed early so that their parents can get the presents ready. The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace , so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, Father or Mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.
On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. Some even turn on the light at two o'clock, and most of them are awake by six o'clock although it is not light in England for another hour or two at this time of the year.Children look for their presents , and the young ones play while the dinner is prepared. At about one o'clock in the afternoon, the Christmas dinner is brought in . The turkey or chicken is quickly eaten . Children search in their Christmas pudding for new coins which are hidden in it . The rest of the day is full of games and eating until the happiest of all Christmas hollidays comes to an end.
Christmas Is Coming
I like Christmas, it is just like our Spring Festival.
Maybe the Spring Festival is much more important and interesting than Christmas, but I like Christmas Day better. Because we can spend time with our friends and classmates during Christmas. When it is snowy, Christmas becomes much more lovely, just like in fairytales. I can imagine I am in a fairytale, the girl who sold the matches is my friend, the ugly duck becoming more and more beautiful and so on. What a beautiful place! So we can also call Christmas “Snowy Lovely Day.”

And why choose this day?We need to know the feast of Christmas. It's a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Today,it has become a national holiday which can be compared with the New Year.It is similar to the Spring Festival in China.
How to celebrate it?Let me introduce you the customs and traditional activites in the following time. The night of December twenty-forth is called Christmas Eve.On Christmas, people don't go to work and children don't go to school. Before the day comes, people must prepare for Christmas trees,Christmas lights,Christmas cards. On Christmas eve, we know an traditional activity called carolling. They sing many Christmas carols .Before go to sleep, the children hang a stocking at the end of their beds for Santa's presents. And they often wake up early in the Christmas day to check the presents. Then the family will have a big Christmas dinner.
In the Western, each family need to prepare a Christmas tree to enhance the festive atmosphere. Christmas tree is generally made with evergreen such as cypress It is a symbol of life forever. Although everyone enjoys Christmas Day,it is particularly enjoyed by children, who get very excited because of the presents. It is said that there was a kind old man whose name was Saint Nicholas. He often helped the poor and gave presents to them. Today, Santa Claus is an imaginary figure, but nearly all children believe in him. People always wake up early. in the Christmas morning Some people may go to a Christmas morning church service .But most people will just watch the special Christmas programmes TV or play party games but the mothers will be in the kitchen preparing Christmas Dinner.
Everyone enjoy it,because Christmas dinner is the main meal of the day, some families arrange it at lunch, and some families arrange it at dinner.Major food for the Christmas meal is turkey or roast goose, puddings and a variety of cookies such as the golden butter cookies, fruit cookies and so on. The custom of eating turkey is popular in the Unite States from 1620 And British Christmas dinner is roast goose.
And now,we know how to celebrate the Christmas Day in the western. At last,I hope everyone have a good time in the Christmas of this year. And this presentation can give you some information that you need.Thank you for your attention.

1.Hello everyone,my topic of the speech for today is "City Life and Country Life".
Why do people choose to live in the cities today? The reason is:in the cities,we have more opportunities. In cities there are many shops. There is no problem if you need to buy something. If it isn't in one shop you can go to another one.In the village there are usually only few shops and even the only one with the necessary foods. But cities aren't only centres of shopping but there are also many offices.Of course all the good schools are in cities.People in the cities can find a now job more easily than people in the country. After all,a job opportunity is one of the most important reasons why to move to the city. But many people from cities say they would love living in the country.I agree with them.
2.Many citizens like to live in the city.City folks like the conveniences and comforts of the big city.It is convenient to get around in the city by bus or taxicab. There are many taxicabs in most cities.
Cities have many schools for children, young people and adults.Adults can go to class at night to learn to read and write better, and to be trained for better jobs.Every large city has at least one college.Adults as well as young people have the chance to go to college.
Citizens of cities have convenient medical services. There are many good doctors to give these medical services. There are many policemen in the cities. The police protect the citizens.
The city has many kinds of entertainment. There are film shows, plays, concerts, parades, and many other kinds of entertainment. There are many places to visit. Many adults like the entertainment and comforts found in a city.
But some of our citizens like the country better. They say the country has many comforts, too. Most homes in the country have electricity. They have electric ice boxes and electric stoves. The country has many more conveniences and comforts than it once had.
The country has space for people to do things.People who live in the country have space to plant flowers and space to keep animals. Some people like to have space in which they can move around freely.
People in the country get lots of exercise when they work on the land.Children get lots of exercise by working or riding their bicycles to school. In the country there are fewer accidents and people do not need so many policemen to protect them.Living in the country is clean and quiet.
Where would you rather live,in the city or country?

ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! i’m very glad to stand here and giveyou a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. i hope you inance of courage overtimidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this oftenexists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody gro men and from theinfinite, so long as you are young .
when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows ofcynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but aslong as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you maydie young at 80.

What life is about
As we all know, the most important thing in life is our attitude towards it, tons of men have tried different ways of treating life, and some succeeded, some failed, and here are some of the tips they left us.
Life isn’t about keeping score. Life isn’t about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin. In fact it’s not about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about that.
But life is about whom you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. And we should always remember to be ourselves. Other might have things that we desire but being what we really are is the only trail leading to the true colors of life. Most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; we buy more but enjoy them less. We’ve learnt how to make a living but not a life, we’ve added years to life, but not life to years. And it is time for us to choose whether to make a difference in our life.
And these choices are what life is about.

The pig & Watermelon
In spring, the mother pig took the little pig LuLu to the foot of the mountain. They planted some watermelon.
When summer came, there were many big round watermelons in the field.
One day, the sun was burning like a fire, it was terribly hot on the ground. The mother pig said to the little pig:"Lulu, go to the field to pick a watermelon back,ok?" Lulu said happily:"Ok! No problem."
Then he ran to the watermelon field. When he got to the field, he was happy to find so many big green watermelons. He chose one of the biggest watermelon and picked it from the vine. Then he held it with his hands trying to lift is on his shoulder to carry it home.
"Wow!It's so heavy!" Lulu tried several times, but he failed. And he was socked with sweat. He wiped his sweat off and decided to have a rest.
Suddenly he saw the monkey Pipi. He was playing with a hoop. Lulu patted his head and said:"I've got it." He thought, the round hoop can roll, the watermelon round too, then it can roll too.He then put the big melon on the ground and rolled it forward quickly.

Hold Fast To Your Dreams
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the process of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.
However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent possibility even when we are dragged down by reality. They keep us going. Most successful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future. Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.
Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

Good afternoon,ladies and gentlemen!
I’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! To begin with ,I want to ask a question .Does everybody dream a good dream last night? Actually ,today I want to talk about dream with you. Of course, What I want to talk is not a dream you have last night, but a dream—— about life.
Everyone has dreams about life, different dreams at different life stage, and we need dreams to support us. Dreams are like the stars we never reach in the sky,but like most mariners,we can chart our course by them. With the dream,we have a direction, with a direction, we were no longer confused. With the dream, there is hope,With hope, we have the strength to fight.
I have a dream: To be a doctor.,because doctor may relieve the pain of patients. May let the human change the health. At the same time, I believed that, those who help others may be able to obtain joyfully. Therefore, I hoped in the near future ,I might be a doctor.
But I know, life is tough, and there are always ups and downs, maybe we fail in the way to our aims, and we may feel depressed ,whenever at this time, the dream in our heart can always comfort us, encourage us ,and support us to move ahead .
Young!Fortunately, I am young now. Just due to it, I know that nothing is impossible.I firmly believe that nothing can stand in my way. If I can't realize my dream,it result from that I haven't work harder enough and I won't find other excuses. If no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. If you think the god haven't blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.
"My breath swallows the sky and make the yellow river overflow, my sword is famous in Kyushu and it can collapse the five sacred mountains." At some time in the past I also had am bitious words and I had some achievements. Each achievement results from my hard work. I always believe that "If you want to have more achievements than others, you must work harder." In some extent, the dream is the hope. If you can insist on doing something, the victory will come.
Let's--- move ----out!
Thank you for your listening!
People’s opinions are always different once they talk about campus love. Some people hold the idea that campus love is a bitter fruit which may cause pains and make people hurt. Besides, people who are against campus love maintain that campus love is just a kind of thing that wastes time and money. While others declare nothing is more wonderful than love. The later seem to be idealists who love for love’s sake!
As far as I’m concerned, I do not quite agree with the two kinds of opinions mentioned above. For one thing, since we are college students now, we should learn to take total responsibility and it is time for us to experience various kinds of "growing pains", including love. So maybe we’d better be braver to pursue it in spite of the sorrows that might happen to us.
However, I do not mean that study can be neglected compared with love. For, as college students our main task was, is and will be study. Being adults does not mean being totally independent. A man’s first duty is to find a way of supporting himself, thereby relieving other people of the necessity of supporting him. Therefore, we have to master the skills to make a living in future. Those who abandon their study in sake of love are rather idlers than idealists!
All in all, campus love has double edges. It is true that it may cost you something to seek it, but if you can arrange your time well, it will add color to your life and tell you how to give rather than receive without influencing your study. Just follow the star in your heart! Why not have a try?
As the saying goes, what wakes you up in the morning is not your alarm clock, but you dream. The future is unknowable, but dream give us the direction some moment maybe the reality is harsh and you are suffering much. If you have a dream, even a very small one, it will light your life in the darkness and keep you hiding from the reality, for dream will give you the energy to fight.
However, sometimes it seems that what is practical and sensible does not connect with your most treasured dreams. I am a freshman ,indeed my college life is not as colorful as imagined before, all plans and goals just be hung up。I’m very afraid that even if I graduated from college, I still couldn’t find a job and then had a better life. Faced with the cruel reality,we college students should really make good use of these facilities and learn as much useful knowledge as possible。Then after graduation, we would find it’s much easier to get a decent job.
When I am a little girl,my father gave me two cups filled with soil,he asked me to water one cup every day。Two weeks later, tender leaves appeared in the cup that I watered everyday。Father said to me:“The seed represents for your dream, without sweat and effort,it won’t come out no means will your dream turn into reality if you never pay for it.”
From this story I learn that If I intend to full my dreams ,I must work hard, make efforts ,and get prepared ,otherwise I will get no possibility to succeed.

a few years ago, i felt like i was stuck in a rut, so i decided to follow in the footsteps of the great american philosopher, morgan spurlock, and try something new for 30 days. the idea is actually pretty simple. think about something you’ve always wanted to add to your life and try it for the next 30 days. it turns out, 30 days is just about the right amount of time to add a new habit or subtract a habit — like watching the news — from your life.
there’s a few things i learned while doing these 30-day challenges. the first was, instead of the months flying by, forgotten, the time was much more memorable. this was part of a challenge i did to take a picture everyday for a month. and i remember exactly where i was and what i was doing that day. i also noticed that as i started to do more and harder 30-day challenges, my self-confidence grew. i went from desk-dwelling computer nerd to the kind of guy who bikes to work — for fun. even last year, i ended up hiking up mt. kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in africa. i would never have been that adventurous before i started my 30-day challenges.
i also figured out that if you really want something badly enough, you can do anything for 30 days. have you ever wanted to write a novel? every november, tens of thousands of people try to write their own 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days. it turns out, all you have to do is write 1,667 words a day for a month. so i did. by the way, the secret is not to go to sleep until you’ve written your words for the day. you might be sleep-deprived, but you’ll finish your novel. now is my book the next great american novel? no. i wrote it in a month. it’s awful. but for the rest of my life, if i meet john hodgman at a ted party, i don’t have to say, “i’m a computer scientist.” no, no, if i want to i can say, “i’m a novelist.”
(laughter)
so here’s one last thing i’d like to mention. i learned that when i made small, sustainable changes, things i could keep doing, they were more likely to stick. there’s nothing wrong with big, crazy challenges. in fact, they’re a ton of fun. but they’re less likely to stick. when i gave up sugar for 30 days, day 31 looked like this.
(laughter)
so here’s my question to you: what are you waiting for? i guarantee you the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days.
thanks.

Some say growing up in rich family promotes children's personality and character. Some think otherwise. What's your opinion? Why?
Well, it's quite a question argued by people all the time. I think a person's personality has little relation to his family economic level. It's commonly said that a child in rich family will has more chances and better choice for his study. However, if the kid himself isn't aware of this, that is all in vain. It's not unusual that many children from rich family are quite rude and conceited although they are always receive the best education. Then, how about the poor family's children? There is another saying that adversity cultivates heroes. To be honest, I disagree with it too. Poor children should learn harder and catch every chance to strengthen themselves. However, the reality is often not like that. Subjectively speaking, poor children are easy to feel inferior and thus can't study well. Even if they study well, they hardly do well in practicing ability. Objectively speaking, poor children can hardly receive good and plentiful education because of the economic limit. That will cause deficiency in some literal or artistic talent such as music or dance. Therefore, I think children's personality have little relation to their family situation.

In this day and age, environmental degradation presents great danger to thepublic. People in my country, and other places, have to bear polluted water andhaze day after day. As public awareness of the need for environmental protectiongrows in these countries, it is urgent to learn how to establish a green lifestyle.
To achieve a green life style, we must adjust our behavior. This can bedone even with simple things. For example, we could sort out our trash forbetter recycling. At home, we can use lights and other electricity only whenneeded. We should properly maintain air conditioners twice a year so they willrun efficiently, and, even more importantly, make sure doors and windows fitproperly and are sealed so that we can use less energy in heating and cooling.Other simple steps that make a big difference include using publictransportation instead of driving private cars.
Commuters can choose to take buses, subways or share cars with others, which not only relieves traffic jams but also reduces gas emission.
In my mind, it is high time to establish a general concept of sustainabledevelopment and green life style in China. The Earth has provided humans whatthey need; it is time to pay back.
