　　Spring Festival is the most important festival in China .It’s to celebrate the lunar calendar ‘s new year .In the evening before the Spring Festival ,families get together and have a big meal .In many places people like to set off firecrackers .Dumplings are the most traditional food .Children like the festival very much ,because they can have delicious food and wear new clothes .They can also get some money from their parents. This money is given to children for good luck . People put New Year scrolls on the wall for good fortune .

　　The Spring Festival lasts about 15 days long .People visit relatives and friends with the words “Have all your wishes ”. People enjoy the Spring Festival ,during this time they can have a good rest .

　　The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is a day when Chinese people get together for sharing happiness.

　　The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month,often one month later than the Gregorian calendar.At Spring Festival Eve,all the family members eat dinner together.After the dinner,the whole family will sit together,chatting and watching TV.In the past,we often just watch the Spring Festival party broadcasted on China Central Television Station (CCTV).But nowadays ,less and less people watch it but play cards or mahjong.

　　Burning fireworks was once the most typical custom on the Spring Festival.People thought the spluttering sound could help drive away evil spirits.However,such an activity was completely or partially forbidden in big cities once the government took security,noise and pollution factors into consideration.

　　祭灶，是我國民間影響很大、流傳極廣的習(xí)俗。很久以前，差不多家家灶間都設(shè)有“灶王爺”神位。傳說他是玉皇大帝封的“九天東廚司命灶王府君”，負(fù)責(zé)管理各家灶火，人們稱這尊神為“司命菩薩”或“灶君司命”，被作為一家的保護(hù)神而受到崇拜。民謠中“二十三，糖瓜粘”，指的就是每年臘月二十三或二十四日的祭灶，有所謂“官三民四船家五”的說法，也就是官府在臘月二十三日，一般民家在二十四日，水上人家則在二十五日舉行祭灶。

　　傳說到了臘月二十三，灶王爺便要升天，向玉皇大帝稟報(bào)這家人一年善惡，玉皇大帝根據(jù)灶王爺?shù)膮R報(bào)，再將這一家在新的一年中應(yīng)該得到的吉兇禍福的命運(yùn)交于灶王爺之手。送灶神的儀式稱為“送灶”或“辭灶”，百姓供上紅燭、糖瓜，以隆重的禮節(jié)送灶神上天，祈望灶神“上天言好事，下界降吉祥”。如今，農(nóng)村很多地區(qū)還沿襲這種風(fēng)俗。

　　“二十四，掃塵日”。迎新首先要除舊。掃塵就是年終大掃除，北方稱“掃房”，南方叫“撣塵”。在春節(jié)前掃塵，是我國民間素有的傳統(tǒng)習(xí)俗。掃塵之日，全家上下齊動(dòng)手，用心打掃房屋、庭院，擦洗鍋碗、拆洗被褥，干干凈凈迎接新年。其實(shí)，人們借助“塵”與“陳”的諧音表達(dá)除陳、除舊的意愿。
