  1 Professional female discrimination problem 專(zhuān)業(yè)女性歧視問(wèn)題

  Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students to study in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  Nowhere in the world has the issue of female rights and interests been so much debated as in our society. Nowadays, plenty of universities limit the number of female students who study in some of subjects; therefore, many people think universities should accept equal numbers of men and female study in every subject, but others have a negative attitude. As far as I am concerned, I think men and women should gain equal educational opportunities, but accepting equal numbers of male and female, in every subject, is unnecessary and impossible. Therefore, I disagree with the view that universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. My argument in support of my view is as follows.

  The main reason is that mode of thinking is different between female and male. Everyone, male and female, has equal right to study in universities, nevertheless, due to difference of in thought and views. Men and Women may represent varied study capability. A case in point is that men may possess more talent than women in mathematics, physics and like stuff. In the study of language, on the other hand, female shows stronger ability than male. In the history of human beings, most scientists, especially those who research abstract theories, are male.

  Another reason is that nature decides different directions of development between men and women. Today, although female's right is being increased, female still plays a different social role. Women are by nature good at housekeeping since the biological function of a woman is first to bring children into the world and then to bring them up and it has been proved by some scientists that women are not good at business management, political administration, etc. So, in the study of business and management, requiring equal numbers of male and female is not essential.

  From what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that accepting equal numbers of male and female students in every subject is impossible and I also disagree with this point of view.

  In 20xx, there was a reform in the system of College English Test, which meant college students would get their test marks and there would be no limit to the times they may attend the tests before they graduate. They can attend several times before graduation until getting the scores they expect. From my point of view, it's not necessary at all.

  To begin with, CET only proves one's qualification, and it's only a measurement of students'knowledge of basic knowledge. It can not necessarily tell everythingof one's English ability. Passing the tests can not prove that one can use English skillfully. It's the use of English that can tell one's English ability. Moreover, students should spend more time in their major courses, rather than in getting higher scores in CET. Preparing for CET is a huge job that costs a lot of time. College students should focus on improving their major skills and comprehensive skills. English is just used as a tool in communication, but the modern society needs those people who grasp perse skills. The companies and enterprises will take the candidate's ability on major courses into consideration rather than only the CET scores.

  From the discussions above, we can conclude that the score of CET-4 and CET-6 can't prove one's all-round ability as much as previously thought. Therefore, college students needn't to attend CET-4 or CET-6 repeatedly, and what they should do is try their best to improve their major courses and comprehensive skills.

  6 My Opinion on Campus Lectures 大學(xué)里的各種講座

  In recent years, more and more lectures are being given on campus. They are organized either by the departments or by the students unions with an aim to improve the students quality both mentally and academically. These lectures are usually in series and on different topics, such as arts, life, economy, psychology and world issues.

  Generally speaking, the advantages of good lectures are various. First they broaden the students knowledge horizon and cultivate interest in different fields. Second, they make the life of the students colorful and enjoyable.

  With these merits, lectures are just complementary and subordinate to our school work. If students spend too much time attending lectures, their regular study will be affected and disturbed. So, in my opinion, the students should, on the one hand, do their class work and homework well first, on the other hand, set as more time as possible to attend good lectures which are helpful to our life and study.
