It gives those working parents a little sense of control and security to know when their children are off campus and on their way home.

　　But having a cell phone might be a problem. Parents may find themselves facing a frightening bill at the end of the month. The reason: chatting on the phone and sending text messages can soon become the favorite pastime of preteens and teenagers. Worse still, cell phones in schools can lead to classroom distractions, text-message cheating and inappropriate photographs.

　　Knowing their children can always be reached is reassuring for parents. But before buying their child a cell phone, I think parents should decide if the child is really capable of managing his or her own phone. Besides, parental control must be exercised in the use of the phone. For example, they should set limits on how long the child is allowed to stay on the phone.

　　There is a growing tendency nowadays that children in mounting numbers own mobile phones. Does anyone hold the same attitude towards this phenomenon? Definitely not. Actually, opinions vary from person to person.

　　Some emphasize the merits(優(yōu)點) of children's using mobile phones, they hold that children can contact with their parents or friends conveniently especially when they are confronted with (面對)difficulties or dangers. Moreover, mobile phones equipped with (裝配有)various interesting games are also a convenient source of recreation and relaxation (娛樂和放松的來源)for children who have been under an enormous pressures from an overload of studies (承擔過量學業(yè)的壓力). On the contrary, a majority of people hold that mobile phones are detrimental to (對…有害)children. For one thing, children's being addicted to (孩子們對…的沉溺)mobile phones is nothing but a waste of their precious and limited time, which will definitely interfere with (影響)their studies. Additionally, radiation from mobile phone will exert a detrimental impact on (對…產(chǎn)生有害的影響)children's body health.

　　From my perspective，it is not advisable that children should bring mobile phones. It is unbelievable that some students carry mobile phones just for the purpose of(目的)killing their precious time instead of keeping in touch with their parents regularly. The supposed helpful (本應該有利的)tool has become harmful. Accordingly, children should concentrate their time and energy on studies，those which might become distractions should not be introduced to them.
