They say that when you die your life flashes before your eyes. Will you see any-thing other than a small black box in the corner of your room? What have you changed in th world? What will you leave behind? Or maybe you are surrounded by people all the time.duanwenw. You are the center of attention and everybody loves you. You go out with your friends, partying and having fun, but what about in the morning? You wake up with a severe headache and an upset stomach. What about your death? Do you think it was time to go? You could be the exact opposite. You may want pany, but for whatever reason not have it. Maybe you’re scared or shy. You go home, lock yourself in your room, and sink into anger. Are you an adventurer? Will your love of adventure lead to your end? You can never be quite sure when your heart and spirit will be broken. All your adventures will one day be forgotten and it will all have been for nothing.
Or maybe you played it safe your entire life. You outlived all those others, but what for? You never did anything great; you never made anything of yourself. You’re alone in all your security, but that worth it? You just took up space on th earth. They say that when you die, your life flashes before your eyes. What will you see?
I remember once my high school teacher invited the whole class to share our dreams with each other. I said, “I want to become an architect in future.” My desk mate said, “I want to be a public speaker.” Interestingly, a year later, he flew abroad to go for architecture, and I went to college majoring in English. And Look who is giving a speech right now.
What I learned from this experience was that, the road we end up taking can be different from our first plans. If we all realize our initial dreams, this world will be full of supermen and princesses. As I grew up, I often hear people say, life is all about making compromise. Your dream may die. You have to come terms with your life.
Well, my mother doesn’t see it that way. She is a kindergarten teacher, but she has a gift in painting. I often said to her, “if you had applied for an art school, you would definitely have made a great painter.” She said, “Yes, I would. But you were born!” “But it’s ok,” she continued, “I love kids. I can see their cuteness and innocence every day. Besides, they love me as well. Plus, I have a son who is about to see Rui Chenggang face to face. My colleagues are going to be so jealous of me. I am happy with who I am and I love my job.”
Sometimes when we are stuck in a rut, we may stop and wonder if life could be better had we taken the other road, and we may regret having lost so much for our stupid decisions. But on the threshold of adulthood, I would rather view my life in a positive light. I believe there is no absolute losing. Even though we seem to have made a compromise with each choice, even though we seem to have wasted a lot of effort with each failure, we are gaining something every step of the way.
Had I not given up my dream to be an architect, I wouldn’t have found my love for English, and I wouldn’t have met my friends, who, in order to boost my confidence before the speech contest, gathered in my dormitory and held a pep rally. I wouldn’t have met my professors who have always been patient with me, even when I couldn’t come up with a satisfying speech for 2 weeks.
And had I not spent the last 2 weeks painfully preparing for the speech contest, I wouldn’t have had a chance to think about this world, to ponder on life and to form a better understanding of myself.
For all my blessings, I owe my life an attitude of gratitude. From time to time I would picture myself working in my own studio, designing a beautiful villa. But I will not regret it, because I’m happy with who I am, and I love what I have.
So ladies and gentlemen, don’t be so obsessed with the other road in your life. The path you chose may not be ideal, but that’s not the end of the world. Fill your heart with gratitude. Break up with your regrets, and fall in love with your dream. Through all the hardships and difficulties, you’ll find that you’ve garnered more than you’ve sacrificed.
The other day my mother called me and said, “When the contest is over, I will give you a reward for your hard work.” I said, “There is no need for another present. I already have my present. ”

I still remember the tatinic, though it's a big ship but it still sunk,so ,in my opinion ,the best ship is the friendship.
Everyone needs friends baceuse there are a lot of things that you can't deal with ypourself, and the friends judt make up for it.
Friendship just likes the sun ,it can make you fell warm though in the cold winter, friendship just likes the water in the desert ,it can make you fell that in the world ,there still has hope a word ,the friendship is the same meaning as the greatness ,selfness and devotion.
To make friends ,adding a friend equals addng a way ,open your heart ,devote yoursef, let friendship make your world colourful.
All the celebrations welcoming the new century were hold in the year 20xx, because life without a GREeting is like the sky without the sun.Greetings are very important for the whole world,in my opinion.
But I don't know whether GREetings are enough for us.Especially when we meet with failures .I remember quite clearly that when I was a child,if I fall down and was on the brink of crying,my father always told me"Please stand up from where you fall down!"
Yes,we must stand up from where we fall down.
That was a special mid night in 1993.Expectations filled our hearts.
We stared at the TV,hoping excitedly as the voice would fly to our ears.
But at last, each Chinese who loves our motherland was distressed to know the result:Beijing ,lost to Sydeny by a margin of two votes in the Olym
Eight years have past, but the frustration has not healed with time at all.
Now,at the begining of the new millennium, all of the pride and disappointment of the 20th century had gone with the wind. The 21st century, which is full of hope, longing znd thought has come. Someone said,we would start from zero on.
Should I really start from zero on?
No!I hold that we should go on with our efferts and ambitions stayed by last century, and make our life better.
"New Beijing,GREat Olympics!" the voice cries this out around China's captital,a 3,000 -year-old city these days.
Beijing, along with Paris,Istanbul,Osake and Toronto, has been shortlisted by the International Olympic Committee as an official candidate city for the 20xx Olympic Games.
This is Beijing's second attempt to host the games.
Everyone fully supports Beijing's bid for it.
Maybe,we can paint fences along the main roads of Beijing.
Maybe,we can make much of yhe city cleaned up.
Maybe,we can learn and speak basic English idioms and expressions for daily communication.
But,but are they just enough?
Facing the new century, mankind is driven by the revolution of science and technoiogy, world economy is undergoing broud and profound changes. But nobody can deny the fact that compared with developed nations, developing countries are confronted with more pressure and challenges. In order to become famous in the world,we must speed up our international economic restructuring to catch up with industrialized nations.
Supporting Beijing's bid is a systematic project that can support China'sdevelopment efforts.
I believe recycled paper, clean fuel, sorted rubbish,water-saving and enery-efficient facilities will become reality in the coming years for China.

I’d like to ask you to point out your favorite country if here is a map. Maybe you will choose the United States for the freedom; maybe you will choose French for the romantic. I’d like to say that these are nice countries for traveling. But there is one country in the bottom of my heart, and I will be proud of her forever, that’s China一一my motherland!
Our great motherland is one of the largest countries in the world. It has a population of over thirteen hundred million. Beijing is its capital.
It’s needless to say that China has a long China is a strong and developing country. Facts have proved that China is a powerful, invincible. If anyone asked, we will proudly say that I am Chinese.I am proud of you一一China.
I am a primary school student now; I know that all of us are the future of our nation. So, what we need to do is to study hard step by step, listen carefully in the class and do homework everyday so that we can dedicate ourselves to our nation when we grown up! That’s my speech! Thank you for listening.

Good morning boys and girls!
It’s a great pleasure for me/It’s nice to to give you a speech here. Nowadays mastering a foreign language is very helpful in our daily life. I feel it a great honor to share my opinions about English learning with you. Firstly, I believe it is useful to remember as many sentence patterns as possible. Secondly, we should try our best to read more English newspapers and magazines after class, which helps to improve our reading abilities. Besides, TV programmes are of great help to us. Last but not least, it’s necessary for us to communicate with foreign friends as much as possible and increase our awareness of foreign cultures, which can also help to improve our English. However, sometimes I find it difficult to pronounce some English words correctly. I would appreciate it if someone could give me some advice. Thanks for your attention
That's all my speech,thank you.

Mark Twin once said:"in nineteenth Century two people, one is Napoleon, one is Helen Keller." I read a book about Helen -- "if give me three days light" recently, after reading this book,my heart is the spirit of Helen deeply shocked!
In the book,Helen said:"the knowledge to give love, give a person with bright, give a person with wisdom,it should be said that knowledge is happiness, because with the knowledge,is to touch a history of human activity since the pulse,or do not understand human life music!".Indeed, the power of knowledge is infinite,it is knowledge that Helen created these miracles!
Helen is unfortunate, but she is lucky,it is because of knowledge, she was so lucky.Lost sight and hearing in her 19 months later, and the world lost communication, lost contact, the life of the young do not know how to row retire loneliness, her eccentric, rude, rude, until her Sullivan teacher walked into her life,to teach her how to read, before she opened their hearts the eyes, and to communicate with people.A contact to knowledge, lonely Helen realized that only knowledge can pave a road leading to the light. When Helen aware of "water" -- that she knew the first word, will start on the knowledge, strong desire for the world, began to read, unable to hold oneself back reading, like a sponge to absorb knowledge from life itself. The thirst for knowledge,so that she was unimaginable monotonous and boring actually learned German,Latin,French and other languages, reading a lot of literature and philosophy, absorb those great and wise thought essence. She's studying than climb mountains, fell again to climb up,each get a little progress, there is an encouraging, gradually see the wider world, until the bright clouds, the deep blue sky,the pinnacle of hope! These knowledge, like a rainbow, hearts Helen lit a lamp, illuminate her inner world, but also set up a Helen and a bridge in the world!
In the book,Helen with delicate strokes, the natural scenery description, make it difficult to believe that from a deaf blind pen; she go horseback riding, boating, swimming, the sled, even alone on moonlight nights, try to comprehend the beauty of the lotus pond; she is going to visit the museum,"listening to the concert," even to "enjoy" the Opera.I believe she is the heart to feel the world, heart to enjoy life. She is much smaller than those of us normal people live happy, live, live a meaningful life!Is knowledge gave her the courage to live,is the knowledge gave her to accept the challenges of life force,so that she could take the amazing perseverance in the face of difficulties, finally found life light in the darkness. The knowledge produced a belief that she:the realistic environment is terrible, but humans should hope, struggle. What is the meaning of life, what is the value of life?Human life is short,we have never thought or did not dare to imagine the future world, daily life lazily, lazily, difficult to blame everyone and everything but not oneself, complain that the God is not fair.On this day in and day out, year after year, time flies like water, the past days no longer, when we look back, whether it is worth recalling?Whether it is worth remembering? If,every one of us,believe me with the knowledge to light our hearts, lamp, the world will be a light!
Helen, with her hard but happy life, the interpretation of the meaning of life. Her life is the miracle of mankind, her autobiography,to my shame,I keep watch.
In this world, why only the deaf appreciate hearing found again?Only the blind will treasure to be delivered from oppression of happiness?Let us treasure every day in life,to enrich life,to enjoy life!Helen said:"I try to get knowledge for the purpose of human society contribute a little strength."
Knowledge of how the power,it can make a disabled person, become a beneficial to mankind, for the benefit of society. If,every one of us,can be like Helen.Keller,in the rest of one's life the thirst for knowledge,as the pursuit of life, every day hold this pursuit, with friendly, energetic, eager to life, our life will add a little joy,how happy ah!
Helen's life,is life in darkness brought light to mankind's life, she proves that human conquer life courage in action,to leave the world a never forgotten songs of life!
Never Lose the Vision of Reality
Good afternoon, Ladies and gentlemen,
My topic today is Never Lose the Vision of Reality. Talking about dreams and future, I would say, dreams should never be too far away from reality. Detaching from reality, lacking solid or practical actions, any future plan or dream project will be nothing short of daydreaming, or, at most well-intentioned thinking. Here I am reminded the year of 20xx, when 191 member states of the United Nations held a World Summit Conference, which made a declaration known as the Millennium Development Goals. The goals of 20xx, which every member state pledged to meet, were such as, elimination of hunger and poverty, drastic reduction in child mortality rates, reversing a spread of AIDS and other deadly diseases, etc. Now, six years later, almost half way to the final year of 20xx, do we see any signs of realizing these goalsToday, half the world- about three billion people, still live under two U.S. dollars a day; about 270 million children have no access to safe water, 11 million children die before they reach the age of five each year. Do we come to harness the spread of the AIDSThe answer is also “no”- and indeed AIDS is spreading faster and wider than ever before. What is even worse, with the wake of the Iraqi War, the nuclear crisis in Iran and unsettled situations in many places, the visions of us young people today are often limited- but the limited vision (that) we do have and care about every day
cannot change the conviction that this world does not seem to promise a very bright future before us. Who is to blame for all thisOf course, we can blame the government: how they… disappointing they all seem to be: in one moment they are pledging to build a better future for us, and the other moment they’re igniting wars, killing more innocent people. But don’t you think we ordinary folks should also take some responsibilities for, say, elimination of hunger and povertyWhen we are quickly rushing to schools, works, or places of entertainment, how many times do we stop just to hand over some food to the deprived on the streetsWhen we are reading newspaper, browsing for news about what is going on in this world, how often do we stop to think about actual ways that we can do to help the people who’re suffering from various disastrous situationsIn fact, how much have we done to help the people who are in need just around usDreams are certainly beautiful and indispensable in our life, for they give us inspiration and motivation. Future plans are certainly necessary, for they provide us with goals and guides. But what is most beautiful and important is an action on a day-to-day basis. In order to realize our dreams or make our future goals realized, we need to put our words into deeds and base our vision on reality. In other words, while human beings should be, first and foremost, idealists and thinkers, we should also be, and all the more, realists and practical doers.
Thank you.

By Yang Xinyun
Good morning everyone. My name is YangXinyun. You can call me Sunny, too. I'm a 13-year-old girl and I'm from Guilin Howell School. Today my topic isthe story between English and me.
Now as we all know, there are six officiallanguages of the United Nations. And English is one of them. Certainly it isvery important and useful. We can talk to the foreign people when we can speakEnglish very well. But everyone knows it is always difficult to learn somethingat the beginning. Just like learning English.
I started to learn English in Grade 2. First,I don't like English. Because it's really difficult for me to write, speak and remember. So I always get the worst marks in my class.
Until one day, my dad asked me a strangequestion, "What is your favourite thing?" I said, "I like my guitar. And I likedrawing pictures. I also like going out to play with Lisa."(Lisa is my bestfriend.)Then he said, "What about English?" "I don't like it at all." Ianswered. My dad was very strict but also very patient, "My dear daughter, ifyou still don't like English, you will never get a chance to learn more byEnglish, such as your music and your art." I was afraid about that coming day. Andmy dad said, "So making a friend with English will make you happy. Trust me!" Ithought maybe my dad is right.
Then I came to Howell. It's really a goodplace for learning. I played games and sang English songs with other classmatesin Howell. I discovered the beauty of the language, and began my colourfuldream in my English world. Every day, I read English following the tapes.Sometimes, our teachers showed us cartoons. Certainly, I remembered and usedthe English words and phrases every day. I have been work harder and harder.
And now I can speak English well and alwaysget the best marks. I am happy. Because I did it better. I also have many problems. There are so many differences between English and Chinese. For example, when wemake a phone call, in Chinese we say, "I'm Sunny." But in English we say, "Thisis Sunny." If we can remember the differences we will be strong and powerful inEnglish. That's exciting.
English is always my best friend and it hasbeen a part of my life. In the future, I am going to study inAustralia. Iwill learn English well and introduce my country well. It will be wonderful. Ibelieve that as I love English more, it will love me more, as well.
As everyone knows,English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. If we can speak English well,we will have more chance to succeed.Because more and more people have taken notice of it,the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a high speed.
But for myself,I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it.When I learn English, I can feel a different way of thinking which gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels,I can feel the pleasure from the book which is different from reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident from my words. When I write English,I can see the beauty which is not the same as our Chinese...
I love English,it gives me a colorful dream.I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English, I can make friends with many people from different contries.I can see many places of great intrests.I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.
I also want to use my good English to introduce our great places to the English spoken people,I hope that they can love our country like us.
I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.
If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too.
I am sure that I will realize my dream one day!
Thank you!

Enjoy yourself while fulfilling responsibility in my 18 years of life, there have been many things. university days are the best part of them. i can never forget the days when i stepped into my university. i was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. i at once fell in love with it.
After the arduous military training, i get absolutely absorbed in my studies. the classes given by the teachers are excellent. hey provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. they easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as i can.
Frankly speaking, at first i had some difficulty following the teachers. however, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, i made remarkable progress. now i've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
Learning is a long process; i'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. this summer i got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. a publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.
At the beginning i was belittled by my colleagues. but they were really surprised when i translated seven english articles over 5,000 words on only one day. gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. in their opinion i turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. so i often take part in activities concerning public welfare. i once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. we taught the kids there who could not afford school. while showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, i was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. i couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. the precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.
Besides study and social practice, there are entertainments as well. i do body building every day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. we also write a play and put it on in our spare time.
Campus life is the most splendid time. but different people have different choices. the majority of students cherish their beautiful season and cherish the hope that one day they'll become outstanding. but there are indeed some students still under ignorance. they gather together for eating, drinking or playing cards. they're busy in searching for a girlfriend or a boyfriend. they forget completely about their mission as college students and the hope of their motherland.
Finally, i do hope everybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. i do hope everybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

good afternoon, everyone!
the topic of my speech today is “being a good listener”.
good listening can always show respect, promote understanding, and improve interpersonal relationship.
many people suggest that parents should listen more to their children, so they will understand them better, and find it easy to narrow the generation gap; teachers should listen more to their students, then they can meet their needs better, and place themselves in a good relationship with their students; students should listen more to their classmates, thus they will help and learn fr-om each other, and a friendship is likely to be formed.
what i want to stress is that each of us should listen more to others. show your respect and never stop others till they finish their talk; show you are interested by a supportive silence or a knowing smile; be open-minded to different opinions even though you don’t like them. in a word, good listening can really enable us to get closer to each other.
thank you for your listening!
Everyone has a mother. Mother brings us to the world. They give us life and love. When we are little, they take good care of us. They give much but give themselves little. They prefer to give us the best rather than let us feel hungry.
When we are ill, they take us to the hospital and look after us day and night. When we smile, they smile. When we cry, they cry. Once I hear a story about mother.
The story happened at the earthquake in 20xx. When people found a mother, they were surprised to find that there was a baby in her arms and there was a mobile phone near the baby. In the mobile phone there was a text message, saying" My lovely baby, I love you forever." The mother used her body to save her child. How great the mother is! Mothers will do everything for their children.
So we should love our mothers and take good care of them when they need us. We shouldn't be angry with our mothers when they punish us, because what they do is for our good.

ladies and gentlemen:
it is a great honor for me to talk about the topic with you all, my dear friends!
as you all know, there is a flinty problem that many many fresh graduates can not find their jobs today. what is worse, it seems that we have few ways to sovle it. probably, some others would argue that why not let our ya go abroad since there are so many chances there? on second thoughts, should our government propose that we youth go abroad for job hunting? my answer is absolutely “ no”!
just think, my friends, why somebody suggest our fresh graduates go abroad? are our markets for job seekers really saturated ? are there really bags of jobs waiting for the jobless abroad? can the migration really put the axe in the helve? it is unlikely, in my opinion.
in some degree, it is a illusion thinking that there have been dead-alive on the labor market home. so many graduates say they can not find their jobs, so many parents worry about their young ones’ future, so many companies close the doors for job seeking…… how it just be a illusion ? do i have a bee in my head?
first ,we should make it clear that what kind of jobs that our graduates want to take, and where they want to work? it goes without saying, only jobs providing high salary in big cities, for instance beijing, can satisfy them. unfortunately ,that kind of jobs are limited. therefore, it is not that our graduates can not find jobs but that they can not find the fictive jobs , as a matter of fact. no matter how flourish and how actively a city is, it can provide numbered positions for the job seekers. what they want is perfect, but what they can gain in the end is another pair of shoes.
in fact, in the country, in the undeveloped places, more and more persons with ability are needed. however, there are no theatres, there are no cafes, there are no kfc, and there are supermarkets… as a result, no body like to work there.as we all know, developed countries
Business breakfasts are common, and can start as early as 7: 00 a.m.
On weekends, many people partake in “brunch”,a combination of lunch and breakfast beginning anywhere from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Moreover, business meetings are sometimes held over “brunch.”
Business meetings are frequently held over lunch, which begins at 12:00 noon and sometimes lasts until 2:00 p.m. Lunch is usually a lighter meal, since work continues directly afterward. Additionally, an alcoholic beverage such as wine or beer is sometimes ordered.
If you are invited out for a business meal, the host will usually pay.
If you are invited out, but your host does not offer to pay, you should be prepared to pay for your own meal.
When eating out, the cost is sometimes shared with friends or colleagues, a practice often referred to as “getting separate checks”, “going Dutch”, or “splitting the bill.”
If you invite a U.S. counterpart out socially, you must make it clear whether you wish to pay.
The fork is held in the right hand and is used for eating. The knife is used to cut or spread something onto a food item. To use the knife, the fork is switched to the left hand or is laid down; to continue eating, the fork is switched back to the right hand. But, if you prefer to use the “continental” style of dining, in which the knife and fork are never switched, that is acceptable, too.
Unlike some other cultures, it's perfectly acceptable to refuse an offer of food or drink; moreover, in most cases, the host probably won't urge you to eat.
Many foods are eaten with the hands, so you may want to follow the example of your companions.
There are a variety of ways to beckon a server. For example, you can make eye contact and raise your eyebrows, briefly wave to get his or her attention, or mouth the word for what you want such as "water” or “coffee.” To call for the check, you can make a writing gesture or mouth the word “check, please.”
It is not considered rude to eat while walking down the street.
Business gifts are often presented after the deal is closed. In most situations, gifts are usually unwrapped immediately and shown to all assembled. If you receive a Christmas gift, however, you may be asked to wait until Christmas Day to open it.
In many cases, the best gifts are those that come from your country.
You may not receive a gift in return right away.
During the Christmas season, gifts are exchanged. For your business associates, you can give gifts such as useful items for the office, liquor or wine.
When you visit a home, it is not necessary to take a gift, although it is always appreciated. Flowers, a potted plant, or a bottle of wine can be good gift choices.
Taking someone out for a meal or other entertainment is another popular gift.
Gifts for women such as perfume or clothing are usually inappropriate because they are considered far too personal.
Gifts for children are often a thoughtful and appreciated gesture, but take into account the values of the parents. For example, some parents might object to your giving a toy gun or a violent video game to their child. Acceptable public conduct.
It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Gamblers at Monte Carlo are pursuing money, and most of them lose it instead, but there are other ways of pursuing money which often succeed. So it is with happiness. If you pursue it by means of drink, you are forgetting the hang-over. Epicurus pursued it by living only in congenial society and eating only dry bread, supplemented by a little cheese on feast days. His method proved successful in his case, but he was a valetudinarian, and most people would need something more vigorous. For most people, the pursuit of happiness, unless supplemented in various ways, is too abstract and theoretical to be adequate as a personal rule of life. But I think that whatever personal rule of life you may choose it should not, except in rare and heroic cases, be incompatible with happiness.
There are a great many people who have all the material conditions of happiness, i.e. health and a sufficient income, and who, nevertheless, are profoundly unhappy. In such cases it would seem as if the fault must lie with a wrong theory as to how to live. In one sense, we may say that any theory as to how to live is wrong. We imagine ourselves more different from the animals than we are. Animals live on impulse, and are happy as long as external conditions are favorable. If you have a cat it will enjoy life if it has food and warmth and opportunities for an occasional night on the tiles. Your needs are more complex than those of your cat, but they still have their basis in instinct. In civilized societies, especially in English-speaking societies, this is too apt to be forgotten. People propose to themselves some one paramount objective, and restrain all impulses that do not minister to it. A businessman may be so anxious to grow rich that to this end he sacrifices health and private affections. When at last he has become rich, no pleasure remains to him except harrying other people by exhortations to imitate his noble example. Many rich ladies, although nature has not endowed them with any spontaneous pleasure in literature or art, decide to be thought cultured, and spend boring hours learning the right thing to say about fashionable new books that are written to give delight, not to afford opportunities for dusty snobbism.
If you look around at the men and women whom you can call happy, you will see that they all have certain things in common. The most important of these things is an activity which at most gradually builds up something that you are glad to see coming into existence. Women who take an instinctive pleasure in their children can get this kind of satisfaction out of bringing up a family. Artists and authors and men of science get happiness in this way if their own work seems good to them. But there are many humbler forms of the same kind of pleasure. Many men who spend their working life in the city devote their weekends to voluntary and unremunerated toil in their gardens, and when the spring comes, they experience all the joys of having created beauty.
The whole subject of happiness has, in my opinion, been treated too solemnly. It had been thought that man cannot be happy without a theory of life or a religion. Perhaps those who have been rendered unhappy by a bad theory may need a better theory to help them to recovery, just as you may need a tonic when you have been ill. But when things are normal a man should be healthy without a tonic and happy without a theory. It is the simple things that really matter. If a man delights in his wife and children, has success in work, and finds pleasure in the alternation of day and night, spring and autumn, he will be happy whatever his philosophy may be. If, on the other hand, he finds his wife fateful, his childrens noise unendurable, and the office a nightmare; if in the daytime he longs for night, and at night sighs for the light of day, then what he needs is not a new philosophy but a new regimen----a different diet, or more exercise, or what not.
Man is an animal, and his happiness depends on his physiology more than he likes to think. This is a humble conclusion, but I cannot make myself disbelieve it. Unhappy businessmen, I am convinced, would increase their happiness more by walking six miles every day than by any conceivable change of philosophy.
我們可以安排listen and do,listen and point,look and say,flash and say等操作簡單,但具有檢查性質(zhì)的游戲。
Who is missing?Who is fast?
。ㄒ唬┣稍O(shè)陷阱
honorable judges, fellow students:
good afternoon!
recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at
extraordinary places. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?
students i see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. we help each other clean the dormitory,go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a
contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer. as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates. though we are still
inexperienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received
to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.
good morning teachers and fellow students. today we would like to introduce a few favorite books to you.
my favorite book is(italian: cuore). this is a diary written by an italian boy enrico. the diary is about his life and study. it included various touching stories that happened around enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten "monthly" stories told by his teacher during the class. every word in the chapter describes the word "love". from patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.
this novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. i really like this book very much. how about you? what is your favorite book? my favorite book is. have you read it before?
oh, i haven’t read this book before. what is it about?
well, it is a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. the story is happy ending.
can you tell us why you love this book so much?
sure. it is because the story taught us to be brave and to face the challenges and difficulties with courage. i am deeply impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story. i have decided to learn from her from now on.
oh i see, the story sounds very good. i cannot wait to read this book as well.

good evening ,ladies and gentlemen:晚上好,女士們,先生們:
thank you very much for choosing to come in such a cold night.today my topic is about choice and process.a research shows that a man has to make 73 choices one day.with so many choices one day, people easily get so confused and afraid of making wrong choice that they hesitate and finally miss the true part of life. in my opinion, the following part is of much more importance than the choice. there is no absolute right or wrong choice but wonderful or boring life, which the process makes the difference.
life is a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get. forrest gump made no decision by and for himself but he accomplished great success with his strong will in the process. the process is not the road itself but the attitudes and feelings ,the caution, courage and persistance we have as we encounter new experience and unexpected obstacles. take myself as an example, i changed my major when i became a postgraduate. after the choice, days have been harsh for me.i cannot understand the new lessons at all. for they are closely related to mathmatics which i learned nothing about before. however wuth the belief that this is the great chance for me to experience new ideas and challenge myself,i persisted. i asked for help from every channel and reorgonized my life. gradually i could understand some parts and even found maths interesting.moreover, i learned to act instead of complaining. in retrospect, the choice left no trace in my mind but the happiness and bitterness of the past four months becomes an unforgetable experience in my life.
經(jīng)過選擇,天已經(jīng)嚴(yán)厲的.me.i無法理解新的經(jīng)驗(yàn)在所有。

We've all been taught that we should help people. It is the right thing to do and will make us popular with others. It may even win us favors in return. However, we must be realistic. We can't say yes to every request. If we did, we would fail or go crazy for sure. Sometimes we simply don't have the time to help. In this case, we must know how to say no politely.
When we need to say no, here is one method we can try. First, we should tell the truth. If we really can't do something, we should just say so. Second, we should remember to refuse requests politely. We must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. A true friend will understand. Finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. Sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. It can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. In short, we cannot please everyone all the time. Refusing favors is a part of life.
I am ten years old, though I am not mature, I am on the way of growing up. Two years ago, I was very shy, I even couldn’t talk to the strangers. But now I have made progress, I can talk to the strangers and make friends with them. I am not the shy girl any more. I have grown up gradually, in the future, I will become more and more better.

Three years ago, when Tyrone Duncan was jobless, recovering from a spinal injury and a stintin a homeless shelter, some volunteers at his transitional housing site encouraged him to run with them as they trained for a race.
So it’s no surprise when Duncan says running turned his life around. He is far from the only person in sneakers to make that claim. A growing number of national organizations are using the sport to help kids and adults facing such challenges as homelessness, drugs and cancer. They have a variety of names — Back on My Feet, Achilles International, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Run to Recover — but all have turned to running for the psychological and physiological benefits that training for a race can bring.

Dear friends:I am a rich girl, because I have a lot of treasure.
Friends are my treasures. Whenever I am sad and down, I know they would hold my hands and warm my heart. They show me how amazing the friendship is.
Families are also my treasures. Whether time find us far apart or it keeps us close together, they are always standing by my side. They tell me how wonderful to be loved by people you love.
Experience is my treasure. Whatever good or bad situation I have to face, it would show me the right way. It helps me to know more about life.
I believe I will be richer in the future., because the way of life is just like a journey of finding treasure .You never know when and where you can find them. You just keep going and they will be found in some time at some place. I will cherish what I have had and keep finding with my curiosity and passion .
I fall in love with reading, because I can get the treasure of knowledge .
I take part in activities, because I can find the treasure of cooperation.
I enjoy music, because I can find out the treasure of beauty.
Life is precious ,isn’t it? How can we get so many beautiful and valuable things without life?
Dear friends, Let’s feel the world with heart, carry the sun inside you, and reach out for the dreams that guide you where you want to go. You will have what it takes to make our path of success. That is the treasure of life!
