We must communicate clearly, but must also be sincere and sympathetic. A true friend will understand. Finally, we must not feel guilty about saying no. Sometimes refusing others is the right thing to do. It can save ourselves, and them, a lot of trouble. In short, we cannot please everyone all the time. Refusing favors is a part of life.

Who is your idol? It may be Napoleon, Picasso, or Michael Jackson. But who is my idol? Can you guess? It is Ronaldo. He is the No. 1 super star of football.
Football is a game in which 22 people chase one ball around a large field. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the net to score.
After all, it’s such an easy game, and yet people go crazy mad over it. The answer lies in two facts. One is the game itself. Sometimes it is beyond any description. Football is a game of passes and techniques, passion and love, more importantly, unity is the key---the whole team working as one, united they will never be defeated.
The European’s style. of play is like a Waltz, the Brazilian like a Samba, and the passionate Argentineans play as if they are doing a Tango. Football is so unpredictable, so unbelievable. You will never know who will win until the last minute. Especially when suddenly there is a goal, the fans who have been sitting on the edge of their seats, will be wild with joy and excitement; and the losers with disappointed hearts will despair over their teams.
The other is of course the super stars. Each one has his own personality, just like my idol Ronaldo. When he smiles, we all smile with him. Who can forget that buck-toothed smile, or that unique hairstyle. during the 20xx World Cup. Ronaldo was born to a poor family. He has set an example to children who can’t afford a pair of shoes, but have talent and a passion for football. He gives them confidence and hope of a better future.

people are like tea bags—you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are." i can still remember the words that dad said to me years ago.
when i was young, i used to be very naughty. life then was like a glaball ,shining with bright colours. i had once gone down to the river bank, catching a great many worms and was afterwards punished by mum. i had ever cut the pillow towel into pieces in order to make clothes for my dolls. similarly, i was then blamed seriously. once i even put the hot iron on the floor which immediately burnt a big hole on the carpet. although i had done so many annoying things, my childhood seemed to be rather colourful. however, i had never had a clear definition about myself. but then something happened. it had made a great difference to my life and made who i am now.
i had always been afraid of having the intravenous drop in hospital. the first time i was taken to have the drop, i cried for almost half an hour and finally gave off at father's severe scolding. watching the cold needle stabbing into my skin, i cried even more loudly. at that time, i never dared to take a glance at my hand and always needed my mother to stay with me at my side. even if mum had told me many times," honey, there’s nothing to be scared of. just close your eyes and sleep." i would still keep my eyes wide open, watching the liquid flow through the bottle and never slept.
nevertheless, things just happened in a casual way. when i caught a high fever again when young, mum had to send for the doctor home to treat me. i was so sick that i became quite drowsy and then slept. when i suddenly woke up in the afternoon, i found the liquid in the bottle had already flown over ,while mum and dad were not around. i yelled, but finally found it was of no use. so i jumped out of the bed and pulled up the tubule. in the nature of things, the blood came out and dropped along the way i went downstairs. things became different at the time i went down alone. i discovered that i could be independent. i was much stronger than i had thought. looking back on the girl who cried all day, i came to understand suddenly that the strong part of the inner myself had been existing all the time. seeing the anxious mum, i revealed a big smile to her. i could see that mum was trying to hold her tears back and scrubbed my blood on the hand. she didn't know that her little girl had stealthily grown up.

Now we are facing two problems of global warming and a shortage of natural resources, both of which are getting more and more serious day by day. Thus, it is important for us to promote a low-carbon lifestyle.
Low-carbon lifestyle covers many aspect of our life like transportation, traveling, home-heating, and so on. In order to promote a low-carbon life, some plans must be carried out as follows. Firstly, don’t waste any electricity and water. Remember to turn off the lights and water taps unless we use them. Secondly, we had better take the subways or bus to work, so as to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide. Thirdly, we should use cloth bags for shopping instead of plastic bags, and use recyclable bowls and chopsticks instead of disposable ones, for it can not only save resources, but also reduce pollution. The cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. But the cynics are wrong. The college students I see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. We help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.
The cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. But again, the cynics are wrong. We care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.
As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. There are many factors that can contribute to a person’s success in life. Whether he is at school or at work, a person is more likely to succeed if he is hard-working, honest, intelligent, responsible, and so on. The first reason is that when a person has self-confidence he believes in himself. He believes that he can and will succeed, and this gives him the courage to try new things. In order to be successful we must be willing to take some risks, so having self-confidence is very important. Another reason is that a confident person rarely gives up. When he fails he tries again and again until he wins. A final reason is that confident people are not afraid to show off their achievements. This is not to say that they should brag, but that they should gracefully and confidently accept the compliments of others. When their achievements are noticed more by others at school or work, they are more likely to succeed.
In short, I believe self-confidence to be the most important factor in success. It enables people to take risks, try again when they fail, and enjoy their accomplishments when they win. With these abilities, a confident person can succeed easily at school or work.

i am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
five score years ago, a great american, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the emancipation proclamation. this momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
but one hundred years later, the negro still is not free. one hundred years later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languished in the corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. and so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
in a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable rights" of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." it is obvious today that america has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

走著走著，來到一處偏遠(yuǎn)的山林，忽然從山上沖下一隊(duì)臉上涂著紅黃油彩的蠻人，三兩下就
把他五花大綁，帶回高山上。國王這時(shí)才想到今天正是滿月，這一帶有一支原始部落，每逢月圓之日就會(huì)下山尋找祭祀滿月女神的犧牲品。他哀嘆一聲，這下子真的是沒救了。其實(shí)心里卻很想跟蠻人說：“我乃這里的國王，放了我，我就賞賜你們金山銀海!”可是嘴巴被破布塞住，連話都說不出口。
當(dāng)他看見自己被帶到一口比人還高的大鍋爐，柴火正熊熊燃燒，更是臉色慘白。大祭司現(xiàn)身，當(dāng)眾脫光國王的衣服，露出他細(xì)皮嫩肉的龍?bào)w，大祭司嘖嘖稱奇，想不到現(xiàn)在還能找到這么完美無瑕的祭品!
原來，今天要祭祀的滿月女神，正是“完美”的象征，所以，祭祀的牲品丑一點(diǎn)、黑一點(diǎn)、矮一點(diǎn)都沒有關(guān)系，就是不能殘缺。就在這時(shí)，大祭司終于發(fā)現(xiàn)國王的左手小指頭少了小半截，他忍不住咬牙切齒咒罵了半天，忍痛下令說：“把這個(gè)廢物趕走，另外再找一個(gè)!”
脫困的國王大喜若狂，飛奔回宮，立刻叫人釋放智慧大臣，在御花園設(shè)宴，為自己保住一命、也為智慧大臣重獲自由而慶祝。
國王一邊向智慧大臣敬酒說：“你說的真是一點(diǎn)也不錯(cuò)，果然，一切都是最好的安排!如果不是被花豹咬一口，今天連命都沒了。”
智慧大臣笑著對(duì)國王說：“恭喜大王對(duì)人生的體驗(yàn)有了新的境界。”過了一會(huì)兒，國王忽然問智慧大臣說：“我僥幸逃回一命，固然是‘一切都是最好的安排’，可是你無緣無故在監(jiān)獄里蹲了一個(gè)月，難道這也是最好的安排?”
智慧大臣慢條斯理喝下一口酒，才說：“大王啊!您將我關(guān)在牢中，確實(shí)也是最好的安排啊!陛下不妨想想，今天我若不是在牢中，陪陛下出獵的大臣會(huì)是誰呢?等到蠻人發(fā)現(xiàn)國王不適合拿來祭祀滿月女神時(shí)，誰會(huì)被丟進(jìn)大鍋爐中烹煮呢?不是我還有誰呢?所以，我要為大王將我關(guān)進(jìn)監(jiān)獄而向您敬酒，您也救了我一命啊!”
有段猶太俗諺是這樣的：如果斷了一條腿，你就該感謝上帝不曾折斷你兩條腿;如果斷了兩條腿，你就該感謝上帝不曾折斷你的脖子;如果斷了脖子，那也就沒什么好擔(dān)憂的了。猶太人認(rèn)為，擁有積極思想的人，對(duì)任何事都抱著樂觀的態(tài)度，即使遇上挫折，積極者也會(huì)認(rèn)為那是成功前的必經(jīng)考驗(yàn)。所以，他們凡事都永遠(yuǎn)想好的一面。他們用這樣一則幽默來勸說人們接受與加深這種思想。

大家好!
如果你是一匹風(fēng)馳電掣的千里馬，那么自我宣傳就能助你早日尋找到伯樂;如果你是一塊不怕火煉的真金，那么自我宣傳就能幫你拂去身上的塵土;如果你是一個(gè)博學(xué)多才的人，那么自我宣傳就是你邁向成功的第一步。
也許你多才多藝，但如今卻如一壇酒，靜靜地在深巷中醞釀著自己的香醇，感受著“李廣難封”的悲哀，那么請(qǐng)你不要再信守“沉默是金”的信條，快快向大家推銷自己吧。
世常有千里馬，而伯樂卻并不常有。如果你不想做一個(gè)被歲月遺棄的千里馬，那么就快快在原野上奔馳吧，盡情展示自己吧，不要徒留“老驥伏櫪，志在千里”的悲哀與長(zhǎng)嘆，不要讓自己空留有“心有余而力不足”的一腔哀嘆。所以，及早地展示自己，是十分必要的。
當(dāng)今世界，你我他也許個(gè)個(gè)都是人中蛟龍，但最終成功的也許只有他，因?yàn)橹挥兴迷跈C(jī)遇面前盡情地展現(xiàn)自我，而你我在機(jī)遇面前，卻只知緘口不語，希冀著有那么一個(gè)機(jī)遇來發(fā)現(xiàn)自己，殊不知“是金子總會(huì)發(fā)光的”永遠(yuǎn)只是少數(shù)，而不懂得展露自己的你我，則只能歸結(jié)為歷史進(jìn)程中那平凡無能的浩浩眾人中的一員。
所以，如果你是一個(gè)仍被藏在布袋中的錐子，那就及時(shí)地戳穿布袋，顯露自己的鋒芒;如果你是另一個(gè)毛遂，那就不妨也來一個(gè)“毛遂自薦”，續(xù)寫一段佳話……
但是，盲目的自我宣傳并不值得提倡。我們宣傳自己的前提是自己必須有真才實(shí)學(xué)，所以，當(dāng)你不具備足夠的才情來讓世人肯定你時(shí)，不妨適當(dāng)?shù)禺?dāng)一下深巷中那壇還需慢慢發(fā)酵的酒，待一切都已準(zhǔn)備好時(shí)，再讓世人為你的芳香美味而傾倒。正如梅花也是在蘊(yùn)積了春秋的精華之后，才在冬天釋放自己最濃烈的香氣的。
同學(xué)們，當(dāng)有一天你是那個(gè)具有真才實(shí)學(xué)的人時(shí)，就請(qǐng)積極地向世人宣傳自己吧!
