　　Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My topic is "Give environment morecare". I’d like to talk about some global environmental problems, share some ofmy stories and show you some data in my speech.

　　At the beginning, I’d like to ask you a question. Has your hometown’senvironment been polluted, if it has, raise your hands please? (Thank you) Letme give you an impression of my hometown. That is a small village of Yunnanprovince. There are many mountains, forests and rivers. If you go there, Ipromise you will be amazed by its beautiful landscape. Because you just cantouch the nature with your fingers and feelings. You can enjoy the blue sky,flying birds, waterfall, amazing sunset and many other sceneries. When I was ateenager, I often climbed these mountains and jumped into clear and clean riverfor a swim with my peers. However, after my graduation from high school, I cameto Beijing for college. I found something different. Because when I raised myhead, the sky’s color was not blue, but yellow. When I looked down, dirty andpoisonous rivers are full of unrecyclable rubbish and giving out unpleasantsmells. When I looked forward, so many people wore their mouth masks. Everyonehere complains weather and environment. It seems so inharmonious between man andnature. Why?

　　As we know, in the past few centuries, human have made countless remarkableachievements in science and technology to explore the mysterious world better.Conquering nature with powerful tools, people have achieved material prosperity.Meanwhile, environment has been badly damaged. So a series of severe problemscome along, such as species extinction, energy crisis, incurable diseases, thethree main pollutions etc. All of these factors bring our beautiful planetdisasters, humanity as well. Let me show you some statistics. According to thereport from World Wide Fund for Nature, the species of entire world havedeclined by 52 % since 1970. That means about 75 kinds of precious speciesdisappear forever from the Earth each day. In addition, scientists claimed thathuman now need one and a half Earth to meet the demand for natural resources.Another frightening data from the UN in 20__, there are almost 8.4 millionpeople around the world who die of cancers caused by environmental issues everyyear. It is so horrible, isn’t it? Man has taken too much from nature, also paidsuch a heavy price for it. If we don’t try to change these situations, what willhappen one or two centuries later?

　　But, fortunately, the majority throughout the world are aware of thesignificance of environmental protection. Much many individuals,environmentalists and organizations have taken actions spontaneously. Companiesdonate part of their profits to support some green projects. Moreover,Government has carried out many policies to conserve endangered species, supportgreen industries and encourage people to live a green life. From a globalperspective, though it is a long journey to make the Earth recovered and to livein harmony with it, I do believe that, with everyone’s efforts, we will finallyget there.

　　Ladies and gentlemen. For ourselves, for our children, and for all humanbeings, by the end of my speech, I do hope you can keep the following words inmind ---- The nature’s prosperity is humanity’s prosperity. 　　地球看上去就像一個(gè)巨大的藍(lán)色玻璃球, 從高高的地球上空或從月球上望去，這顆行星熠熠生輝，閃閃發(fā)光。

　　地球上大洋大海里的蔚藍(lán)色的水構(gòu)成了一幅激動(dòng)人心的圖畫。 水是地球上的美麗之源、生命之源。 水是人們能在這顆行星上生存的根本。 到處都有水。

　　水深藏于地底下的巖層里、在天然蓄水區(qū)里. 從真正的意思上說，是水維持著地球的生命。

　　世界的最后一滴水將是人類的眼淚。我們中國(guó)是12個(gè)貧水國(guó)之一，由于人們的浪費(fèi)，水源越來越少了。

　　但是生活中還有許多浪費(fèi)水的現(xiàn)象，比如;有些小朋友買來水槍到處射水，還有一些學(xué)生洗完碗或洗完手，都不關(guān)水龍頭，浪費(fèi)了許多水……最近云南貴州高原那里長(zhǎng)時(shí)間持續(xù)干旱，使那里居民生存面臨著嚴(yán)重威脅，針對(duì)這個(gè)問題，我們中國(guó)13億要養(yǎng)成節(jié)約用水的意識(shí)。因此，我現(xiàn)在向大家呼吁：‘‘珍惜每一滴水，讓地球媽媽不再哭泣。
