Chinese Taiwan is part of our country. It is the largest island in China. It has an area of about 36,000 square kilometers and a population of over 20 million. It is separated from the mainland by the Chinese Taiwan Strait. On the island the climate is mild and the resources are very rich.
Many, many centuries ago there were the Chinese who lived and worked in Chinese Taiwan. In the 17th ccntury the Dutch invaded Chinese Taiwan. In 1661 an army under Zheng Chenggong drove out the Dutch.
