　　1994年上海高考英語精選試題分析

　　在今年的上海高考英語試卷中，有些試題是很耐人尋味的。這些題目貌似簡單，但卻包含了很多能力考核 點。那些對語言學習淺嘗輒止的考生，在做這類題時往往會露出能力上的缺陷：而語言功底扎實的考生則不會 覺得題目偏怪�，F(xiàn)舉三例如下。

　　例1.語法類試題的解法。

　　原題30.

　　jane's pale face suggested that she ______ill ,and her parentssuggested that she ______a med ical examination.

　　a. be...should have b.was...have

　　c.should be...had d.was...has

　　分析：suggest 是一個常用動詞。中學里學過兩種含義，一是"to put forward(as a plan,thought)"（建 議；提出），如果它后面跟賓語從句，那么從句中的謂語一般由should 加動詞原形構(gòu)成，或直接用動詞原形； 另一個意思是“to give an impression of”（表明；使人認為），它后面的謂語動詞不用虛擬語氣的形式。 由于在教學中比較強調(diào)suggest 以第一個含義，所以遇到動詞suggest時，考生往往會機械地搬用它的第一種用 法。如此題中編題者且有意將兩個suggest放在一個句子里，考生只有在理解句中的兩個suggest 不同含義的基 礎(chǔ)上，才能正確選擇從句中動詞的用法。原句的意思是：瓊蒼白的臉色說明她病了，她的父母讓她去查查身體 。第一個suggest 的意思是“表明、說明”第二個suggest才有“建議、提出”的含義，所以只有第二個sugge st 后面的從句中的謂語要用虛擬語氣的結(jié)構(gòu)。該題的正確答案應(yīng)為b。如果不理解這句句子的意思，只從形式 去判斷，很容易被選項a所迷惑。

　　這表明，即使做語法類的試題，也應(yīng)以理解句子的含義為前提。純考核語言形式的試題今后會越來越少。

　　例2.單句理解的解法。

　　原題79

　　john probably did not realize what effects his theory would have onmankind in the years to c ome.

　　分析：原句中的賓語從句what effects his theory would have on mankindin the years to come由于是 非正常語序，因此 on mankind 究竟修飾哪一部分就不清晰。編題者正是利用了這一點，在選項d中安排了一 句與原句形式極相似的句子。對原句意思不甚理解的考生很容易誤選d。要解這道題，首先要搞清 on mankin d 在意思上與句子的哪一部分關(guān)系最密切。如果將從句部分變成一個陳述句，那么句子各部分的關(guān)系就比較清 晰，即his theory would havesome effects on mankind in the years to come .（他的理論將對人類的未來 產(chǎn)生影響）。把從句恢復到正常語序后，on mankind 和effects的關(guān)系就清楚了。原句的中文意思為：約翰也 許并不了解他的理論未來會對人類產(chǎn)生什么樣的影響。因此，選項a和原句意思最接近。但選項d從句子的形 式上看和原句最接近，它的用詞和原句完全一樣，只是將原句would have 移到了mankind后面。這樣，on man kind所修飾的是 his theory ，而不是effects ，選項d的意思就成了“約翰也許并不了解他寫的有關(guān)人類的 理論在未來會產(chǎn)生什么樣的影響”。

　　在做“單句理解”題時，首先要搞清句子各部分的關(guān)系，對原句（即題干）有正確的理解；其次，在挑選 與原句意思最接近的選項時，不能單看句子的形式，而要辨別其真正的含義。正確答案往往用一些與原句意思 相同的詞或詞組來替換原句的某些成分。如上面的句子，選項d中in the future 就和原句中的in the years

　　to come同義，而 affect mankind 相當于effects on mankind。由于單句理解實際上是找出兩句語言形式不 同而意思相同的句子，因此對意思相同的各種句型進行歸類，以及掌握大量的同義詞或詞組，能提高解答這類 試題的正確率。

　　例3.綜合填空的解題方法。

　　分析：第1個空格就第一句句子而言，很難確定選項c正確還是選項d正確，只有讀完了后面幾句句子才 能發(fā)現(xiàn)選項c在這里并不恰當。又如第3空格選a和d就本句而言都讀得通，但如果選d就和下句but i'm no t seeking thesun 發(fā)生矛盾，所以這一句的答案的確定就依賴于下一句及上文的意思。

　　第11空格要在讀完了它后面的第三句句子you can get a very good ideaof what a country is like from a train 之后，從train 這個詞中得到提示才能確定正確答案。而第15空格究竟選also,yet,but 還是 however ，只有通讀了第二段，從上下文的含義中才能得出also 是最佳選擇。在這一段內(nèi)沒有任何一句句子能 作為這一空格的直接提示，只有將這一段的第一句train travelis restful 中的restful 和safe 在意思上是 對應(yīng)的作為依據(jù)，才能有把握地確定正確答案。

　　確定最后一個空格答案，則要回到第三段第一句"...travel by plane" 才能找到正確選項d。

　　上述綜合填空的內(nèi)容其實并不十分難，各選項選用的都是常用詞，但是由于不少空格都必須根據(jù)上下文， 甚至整段內(nèi)容的聯(lián)系才能定奪，所以難度仍居各題型之首。

　　在解這類試題時應(yīng)先通讀一遍全文，對文章有個大致的概念，然后再按順序填空。當某一空格暫時無法確 定時，可先放一下，看完下文后再回過來填寫。例如，第1空格的四個先項中c.home和d. away 初看似乎都可 以，如果選home ，那么說明作者的家不在香港而在歐洲。但等到讀完后幾句句子后，就會發(fā)現(xiàn)作者6月份通常 到歐洲去旅游，這和my work keeps me in hong kong mostof the year 在邏輯上也是一致的，這時你就會發(fā) 現(xiàn)選home 不對，而應(yīng)填away，把所有空格填完后，最后再讀一遍，看看前后意思是否矛盾。通過通讀－填空－ 復查這樣一個過程，就能比較正確地選擇各個空格的答案。

　　從以上三個例子可以看出這樣一個趨勢：高考英語盡管包含各種題型，有些側(cè)重語法，有些著重理解，但 理解意思是解各類題目的前提。因此，在平時的語言學習中不能光記住語言的形式。學習語言形式與結(jié)構(gòu)是為 了理解語言，只有理解了語言結(jié)構(gòu)的含義才能正確運用語立結(jié)構(gòu)。
