  The Importance of Keeping Optimistic

  Honourable judges, ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon! Today I would like to talk about the importance of keeping optimistic. When we encounter difficulties in life, we notice that some of us choose to bury their heads in the sand. Unfortunately, however, this attitude will do you no good, because if you will have no courage even to face them, how can you conquer them? Thus, be optimistic, ladies and gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, “An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success. Historically as well as currently, there are too many optimists of this kind to enumerate. You see, Thomas Edison is optimistic; if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminate the whole world. Alfred Nobel is optimistic; if not, the explosives and the prestigious Nobel Prize would not have come into being. And Lance Armstrong is also optimistic; if not, the devil of cancer would have devoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the Tour De France.

A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not; that depends on your attitude only, and so does success, so does life. Hindrances and difficulties do exist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your long way to the throne of success; they are more bridges than obstacles! Now I prefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” Thank you!

My View on Optimistic Attitude to Life

For the majority of people, life is full of trifles that trouble us a lot.Sure, I know that trifle exists. However, from my perspective, trivial mattersare not all.

Once on a time, I was not optimistic about frustrations and was subject topessimistic when confronted with trifles. However, things began to change when Iwas selected to be a monitor that service classmates, notice something importantand sometimes organize some meaningful activities. Besides, it needs me to haveenough abilities to schedule time in order to ensure that I have ample time tostudy.

I'll never forget the very day when I failed at the mid-term exam when Iwas crazy and pessimistic about the trifles such as training sessions thatdidn't give me a second to study. It's true that score is one of the mostimportant things to a college student, so after that, I began to schedule mytime

accurately and scientifically. From the warning of the mid-term exam, Ihave changed a lot, and get through the final exam successfully in the end.

Thanks to the selection, thanks to the mid-term exam, I eventually learnedthe significance of optimism, which serves as indispensable components orpersonality and is beneficial to a promising prospect.

If your life feels like it is lacking the power that you want and themotivation that you need, sometimes all you have to do is shift your point ofview. By training your thoughts to concentrate on the bright side of things, youare more likely to have the incentive to follow through on your goals. You areless likely to be held back by negative ideas that might limit yourperformance. Your life can be enhanced, and your happiness enriched, when youchoose to change your perspective. Don't leave your future to chance, or waitfor things to get better mysteriously on their own. You must go in the directionof your hopes and aspirations. Begin to build your confidence, and work throughproblems rather than avoid them. Remember that power is not necessarily controlover situations, but the ability to deal with whatever comes your way. Alwaysbelieve that good things are possible, and remember that mistakes can be lessonsthat lead to discoveries. Take your fear and transform it into trust; learn torise above anxiety and doubt. Turn your "worry hours" into "productive hours".Take the energy that you have wasted and direct it toward every worthwhileeffort that you can be involved in. You will see beautiful things happen whenyou allow yourself to experience the joys of life. You will find happiness whenyou adopt positive thinking into your daily routine and make it an importantpart of your world.

A bottle had fallen down, with half of its water pouring out. To the scene, two men responded

differently, one man, feeling extremely sad, his hand covering his face, sighed ”All has gone!” The other seemed much more optimistic. He ran happily toraise up the bottle and said with great gratitude ”There is still some waterleft.”

Why did the two people have such distinct reaction? It is because theyjudged the situation from opposite perspectives. After the bottle fell, thepessimistic observer focused on the losses thereby thinking negatively, whilethe other observer noticed the remaining liquid and then had a positive opinion.Actually, the fallen bottle is a symbol of unfortunate circumstances in life andthe two kinds of responses reflect two different attitudes towardsmisfortunes.

Misfortunes mean obvious losses; however , they still bring latestopportunities to people with optimistic mind. From the perspective of optimists, firing a career disaster , will be a reminder of the necessity for an urgentimprovement in their personality or expensive sensing the signal for change, those optimists will strive to achieve personal growth, the growth whichprovides a guarantee to healthier career development in the future. Misfortunesare blessings in disguise and optimism can unlock the cover. Therefore, in theface of misfortunes people should adopt an optimistic attitude.

The cartoon aims at informing us of the significance of an

optimistic mindset. Definitely, no once can deny the importance of it. Anoptimistic mindset can help us achieve our objectives more

smoothly and realize our dreams more rapidly. By being optimistic. we canface challenges and surmount hardships with confidence, keep sober and figure outeffective measures even in desperate

situations. To further illustrate the importance of being optimistic, Iwould like to take Beethoven as a case in point: how could he, a great Germanmusic composer who became deaf at his forties,

compose so many enduring and classic symphonies without

  optimism?

Accordingly, at no time should we overlook the power of

optimism. once coming across frustrations and intending to give up,

we should remind ourselves that it is optimism that will finally lead us toturn the corner. “the optimistic sees the rose, and the pessimistic sees thethorn.” A philosopher once said.

Thank you!
