　　Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My topic is "Give environment morecare". I’d like to talk about some global environmental problems, share some ofmy stories and show you some data in my speech.

That is a small village of Yunnanprovince. There are many mountains, forests and rivers. If you go there, Ipromise you will be amazed by its beautiful landscape. When I was ateenager, I often climbed these mountains and jumped into clear and clean riverfor a swim with my peers. However, after my graduation from high school, I cameto Beijing for college. I found something different. Because when I raised myhead, the sky’s color was not blue, but yellow. When I looked down, dirty andpoisonous rivers are full of unrecyclable rubbish and giving out unpleasantsmells. When I looked forward, so many people wore their mouth masks. Everyonehere complains weather and environment. It seems so inharmonious between man andnature. Why?

　　As we know, in the past few centuries, human have made countless remarkableachievements in science and technology to explore the mysterious world better.Conquering nature with powerful tools, people have achieved material prosperity.Meanwhile, environment has been badly damaged. So a series of severe problemscome along, such as species extinction, energy crisis, incurable diseases, thethree main pollutions etc. All of these factors bring our beautiful planetdisasters, humanity as well. Let me show you some statistics. According to thereport from World Wide Fund for Nature, the species of entire world havedeclined by 52 % since 1970. That means about 75 kinds of precious speciesdisappear forever from the Earth each day. In addition, scientists claimed thathuman now need one and a half Earth to meet the demand for natural resources.Another frightening data from the UN in 20__, there are almost 8.4 millionpeople around the world who die of cancers caused by environmental issues everyyear. It is so horrible, isn’t it? Man has taken too much from nature, also paidsuch a heavy price for it. If we don’t try to change these situations, what willhappen one or two centuries later?

　　But, fortunately, the majority throughout the world are aware of thesignificance of environmental protection. Much many individuals,environmentalists and organizations have taken actions spontaneously. Companiesdonate part of their profits to support some green projects. Moreover,Government has carried out many policies to conserve endangered species, supportgreen industries and encourage people to live a green life. From a globalperspective, though it is a long journey to make the Earth recovered and to livein harmony with it, I do believe that, with everyone’s efforts, we will finallyget there.
