we were further cautioned today that perhaps these proceedings ought to be delayed because certainly there would be new evidence forthcoming from the president of the united states. there has not even been an obfuscated indication that this committee would receive any additional materials from the president. the committee subpoena is outstanding, and if the president wants to supply that material, the committee sits here. the fact is that on yesterday, the american people waited with great anxiety for eight hours, not knowing whether their president would obey an order of the supreme court of the united states.
at this point, i would like to juxtapose a few of the impeachment criteria with some of the actions the president has engaged in. impeachment criteria: james madison, from the virginia ratification convention. "if the president be connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter him, he may be impeached."
we have heard time and time again that the evidence reflects the payment to defendants money. the president had knowledge that these funds were being paid and these were funds collected for the 1972 presidential campaign. we know that the president met with mr. henry petersen 27 times to discuss matters related to watergate, and immediately thereafter met with the very persons who were implicated in the information mr. petersen was receiving. the words are: "if the president is connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter that person, he may be impeached."

早上好!今天我講的題目是《文明禮儀伴我行》。
梁?jiǎn)⒊f(shuō)過(guò)：“少年智則國(guó)智，少年強(qiáng)則國(guó)強(qiáng)�！� 在這里我卻要大聲說(shuō)：“少年文明，則國(guó)家昌盛。”在一個(gè)國(guó)家中個(gè)人是主體，對(duì)于個(gè)人來(lái)說(shuō)什么最重要呢?我想首先應(yīng)該是具備文明素質(zhì)，只有當(dāng)每一個(gè)人都具備了文明素質(zhì)，那么這個(gè)國(guó)家的整體素質(zhì)才能 提高。
曾看到這樣一則報(bào)道，說(shuō)的是新加坡，新加坡是一個(gè)通用英語(yǔ)的國(guó)家，這個(gè)國(guó)家的公共場(chǎng)所的各種標(biāo)語(yǔ)大多是用英語(yǔ)書寫。但其中的一些文明禮貌的標(biāo)語(yǔ)，如“不準(zhǔn)隨地吐痰”、“禁止吸煙”、“不準(zhǔn)進(jìn)入草坪”等卻用中文書寫。為什么呢?人家回答：“因?yàn)橛羞@些不文明行為的大多數(shù)是中國(guó)大陸的游客�！睘榇耍叫录悠驴疾斓囊晃恢袑W(xué)校長(zhǎng)語(yǔ)重心長(zhǎng)地說(shuō)：“不文明行為也是國(guó)恥!” 。
以上的事例表明，文明其實(shí)是由點(diǎn)滴細(xì)節(jié)構(gòu)成的，反思我們的所作所為，可見(jiàn)文明離我們還有一段距離。在我們身邊，在一部分同學(xué)身上，還存在著一些不文明的行為。例如，在我們的校園內(nèi)總能見(jiàn)到與我們美麗的校園極不和諧的紙屑，教室里、校園內(nèi)食品袋隨處可見(jiàn)，甚至有的同學(xué)認(rèn)為：反正有值日的同學(xué)，扔了又何妨;再例如有的同學(xué)下課時(shí)追逐打鬧，走路推推搡搡習(xí)以為常;還有部分同學(xué)相互之間講臟話、粗話，故意損壞學(xué)校的公共財(cái)物。我們很多同學(xué)把文化知識(shí)的學(xué)習(xí)放在首位，而常常忽略了社會(huì)公德的培養(yǎng)，文明習(xí)慣的養(yǎng)成，而這恰恰從本質(zhì)上展現(xiàn)出一個(gè)人的思想品質(zhì)。事實(shí)上，良好的行為習(xí)慣，是保證我們順利學(xué)習(xí)的前提，也是樹立健康人格的基礎(chǔ)。在學(xué)校沒(méi)有良好的行為習(xí)慣的同學(xué)就可能目無(wú)紀(jì)律，不講衛(wèi)生，擾亂班級(jí)的學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境。相反，如果我們養(yǎng)成了文明的行為習(xí)慣，學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境就一定是良好的、有序的。我們知道：一個(gè)學(xué)校的學(xué)生具有良好的文明行為習(xí)慣，才能構(gòu)建出優(yōu)良 的學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境，創(chuàng)設(shè)出優(yōu)良的學(xué)習(xí)氣氛。
現(xiàn)在，我們正處于人生中最關(guān)鍵的成長(zhǎng)時(shí)期，我們?cè)谶@個(gè)時(shí)期的所作所為，將潛移默化的影響到我們自身的心理素質(zhì)，而文明的行為就在幫助我們提高自身的心理素質(zhì)，同時(shí)也完善了自身的道德品質(zhì)，如果我們不在此時(shí)抓好自身道德素質(zhì)的培養(yǎng)，那我們即使擁有了豐富的科學(xué)文化知識(shí)，于人于己于社會(huì)又有何用呢?所以，我們首先應(yīng)該做一個(gè)堂堂正正的人，一個(gè)懂文明、有禮貌的謙謙君子，然后才是成才，文明是我們素質(zhì)的前沿，擁有文明，那我們就擁有了世界上最為寶貴的精神財(cái)富。
希望每一位同學(xué)要養(yǎng)成良好的文明習(xí)慣，做文明中學(xué)生。那么請(qǐng)我們每一個(gè)人管住我們的口，不說(shuō)粗話、不隨地吐痰;管住我們的手，不亂扔垃圾、不打架斗毆;管住我們的腳，不踐踏草坪。我相信，經(jīng)過(guò)我們?nèi)w師生共同努力，一定會(huì)營(yíng)造出一個(gè)文明美好的校園。文明禮儀是我們學(xué)習(xí)、生活的根基，是我們健康成長(zhǎng)的臂膀。千學(xué)萬(wàn)學(xué)學(xué)做真人，說(shuō)的就是學(xué)習(xí)應(yīng)先學(xué)做人，學(xué)做文明人，學(xué)做社會(huì)人，清潔環(huán)境，文明校園，從我做起，從每一件小事做起，讓文明禮儀之花在校園處處盛開。
